When you are put to sleep, why can you not have any food or liquid 8 hours beforehand?

I get these bruises during my sleep. So far I have 4 bruises; 3 on my left arm 1 on my right arm. (I got them all in about 2 weeks)

i know everyone will think the way my head was injured is funny. but anyway, i am 31 now and when i was around 10 give or take, i fell down and a neighbors son was riding a bicycle and ran over my head. it cut it open pretty bad. i had to go have stitches and everything. it was the right side of my head about 4 inches up and to the left of my right ear. i never had problems with my head really bothering me until the last week or so. i will be feeling fine and i will start having such sharp excrushiating pain where it had been cut open when i was little. it will last for several hours. it honestly feels like someone stabbing me in my brain. i have tried over the counter pain medication but nothing helps. i don't have insurance so can't have anything done right now. could this be connected to the accident i had when i was 10?

It comes and goes, it feels like they are asleep, you know? I know that these are symptoms of serious things but I'm 26 years old and in good health good shape! Should I go to the doctor asap or wait for an appointment when I get home next week?

I have had a uti for over a month ( almost 2) now ( I am not sure why i just cant seem to get rid of it I have had three anitbitics and none of them have worked they fix it for a few days at the begining then it comes back) but now I dont know it might be gone but i am still in pain sometimes and the pain is now up above my right hip ( and also in the lower abdomon) soemtiems it isnt that bad though , and I am getting really dizzy alot and everytime i lay down to go to sleep i feel like I am going to be sick my question is could this be the uti just getting worse or should I be more worried and should i go back for another doctors appoment and get another antibitic that prolly wont work ( I am going to after hours clinics for these becasue i cant get an appiment with my doctor until the 29 becasue he is on vaction) or should i just wait until the 29th and see my docotr? well what do you guys think sorry about the length of this and thnaks for eveeyone willing to help!

My son was jumping on his bed and fell. He cryed that his foot was hurting, was limping, and his foot was getting a little puffy. I brought him to the emergency room. The doctor had an x-ray done, which showed no breakage. I was told to treat it like a contusion, but to keep an eye on it, and my son's behavior. A week later my son was visibly limping, there was bruising, and his foot was still a little puffy in the the bruised area. I brought him to the pediatrician. The Doctor told me that he suspects that even though it didn't show up on the original X-ray, my son has a hairline fracture. He then told me that I need to keep my son off of his feet for another 4-5 weeks. Then, he proceeded to wrap my son in an Ace bandage, stating that hopefully this woud encourage him to stay off of it. I asked the doctor if it should be casted, or atleast splinted, and he said he felt it not necessary. Shouldn't
a hairline fracture be splinted, at least?

I have felt sick for almost a week now. It feels like I have an ongoing case of indigestion with nausea, but I have tried every antacid, anti nausea pill, liquid, nothing works.

I dont have insurance anymore so it would have to be a real emergency for me to see a doctor. It feels like if I could just get the acid out of my stomach, I would feel better. What can I do other than jam my finger down my throat?

OK, In the grand scheme of things, this is not a major problem, but my "mouse finger" is starting to pop and hurt after even a few hours of computer work. I am a freelance health writer and actually do work on my computer besides contribute to Y/A...LOL. Has anyone encountered this problem, and how are you dealing with it? Any ergonomic changes you have found that help ease the symptoms. We never learned about "mouse arthritis" in nurses' training.

I have 2 degenerated discs in my neck causing chronic pain. I am 28 years old. I have been to multiple doctors and neurosurgeons. My doctor says the 2 bad discs need removed and that 2 new ones need fused in. Sounds pretty scary. He says ther is a 65% chance it will make me feel better. Has anyone had this done or know anything about it? Please tell me about you or a friends experience. Thanks!

I cut my leg by my ankle 5 days ago and there is still blood comming out. I change the bandages 2 times a day and put neosporin on it. When I take the bandages off there is blood on them. Should I just leave the bangages off? Should I put rubbing alcohol? What should I do for the cut to heal?

my bf and i had sex the other day, and i think he pushed in too deep bc i started bleeding. idk if that has anything to do with it, but later on, my stomach started to hurt . i didnt think anything of it, cause i always have stomach aches, and they'll go away. but the next morning, it started to hurt again. the pain increases and then it'll go away and then it'll come back again. i cant eat a full meal anymore. and its really bugging me cause i cant do anything without my stomach acting up. i tried pooping but nothing comes out. and whenever i gag to throw up or whatever, my stomach starts to feel better. i dont think the sex had anything to do with it, but it was unprotected. i dont know. i just wanna know what could be the cause of my stomach pains. any suggestions?

For the past week I have been feeling sick. At first I thought it was the flu because I was always nauseous and my stomach hurt. Then two days ago my right side started to hurt. It hurts under my ribs. It never goes away and last night I woke up hot and it hurt so bad I was crying. This morning only my stomach hurts on the left but my right side is still sore. I am in college so I want to know if I should call my mom and ask her to take me to a doctor or if this doesn't sound too serious. I am starting to get worried about it. During the afternoon I try to eat but it only gets me sicker and seeing eating even on tv is worse. Should I go to a doctor?

it seems as though someone is sticking a sharp needle into the soles and the toes too (middle and big toes especially). the phenomenon occurs mainly at night, but also during day, making walking a bit of a chore. I am 57 y.o., I don't smoke, I don't drink, I have a healthy diet and a walk/bike every day.

It wasnt really that bad of a sprain. Only slight swelling, but hard to walk on without it wrapped up.
But I never went to the doctor and just kept wrapping it up for like 2 weeks. It's been four now and it's definitely not healed.
Im curious what I should do, or if this is just normal.

I started birth control about 4 months ago. The first month I was on the nuva ring and my vericose veins were sore, but not showing above the skin. I was only on the nuva ring for a month, then I switched to Yasmin and my vericose veins are going haywire! My white legs look like someone took a blue crayon a drew on them. I want to stay on birth control, but I need one that doesn't have as serious side effects! My dad died unexpectedly from a P.E. last year and I don't want to be another statistic. What birth control would be the safest with my DVT? Serious answers only please?

I have severe back stiffness in the morning with pain. I take perscription strength ibprorin and it eases up alittle. it does get better during the day but now I have noticed that the big toe on my left foot will not bend. I have not hurt it. It will just not bend at all. I was wondering if these two had anything in commmon? Any ideas on how to get my back less stiff so I can function in the morning?

i put myself on a water diet where i only eat a lil food an then i drink water and then ginger ale .. i seems 2 hav worked but in class i used 2 have loud noises in my rectum and my lower abdomen.(its not a fart) my stomach bubbles. it makes nasty noises. i decided that if that happens i should use that bathroom but that dosnt work. i used a laxitive but that only made me sick. i used pepto bismol an that didnt work. i mite try not eating and seein how my rectum and abdomen take to that . HELP!!! what is wrong with my body/digestive system?

Well I listen to my ipod every night before I go to sleep...
And then someone tells me that it's bad to listen to music, especially when it's in ur ears before sleeping...something with the brain and sleep stuff....
I wanna know if its true....Can musci be bad if listening to it before sleeping? Explain plz
OH, and sometimes I fall asleep with it in my ears...but I wake up a lil later and take it off...
