What are your tips on keeping alert at work after a sleepless night?

Coffee usually gives me a headache, and I drink lots of water but I can still feel the fatigue...

Your help is much appreciated!

I usually get 8 hours of sleep a night, because I like to be disciplined with my sleep.. but for some reason, I've found it hard to sleep for the past week or so.

I'm up so late at the moment because I'm just worried about my boyfriend... I think I might have hurt him, and I've apologised and he said that I haven't done anything... but he's acting a bit unhappy and I care for him so much that I'm just milling things over in my mind to try to get some perspective I guess....

Eat some fruit, and drink plenty of water. Fruits have alot of natural sugars in them. This usually helps my day along!

Believe it or not, eating an apple will wake you up more than a cup of coffee. There is some chemical in it (natural) that keeps you allert. You can also go for a quick walk around the block at work...getting your body moving will help shake the groginess that you are feeling. Being trapped behind a desk sucks...stand up and stretch, again to get your body moving.

First, of course, is to make sure you get enough sleep every night - kinda future info...

For now, the best way to make it through is to schedule a break midway through the day and take a 20 minute nap. (Not an hour, not 8 minutes: 20 minutes.) Use your cell phone alarm clock or have someone wake you.

That 20 minutes will refresh you so you'll be able to make it through to quitting time.

i exercise to keep up but then again i work a t a gas staation so i stand there with my snkle weights and just lift my klegs and kick my bum lol ( no one sees casue im behind the counter ) that keeps my awake if you odnt work in a situation like that i would consider drinking warm water and if you can put an elastic on your wrist and snap it when ever you feel yourself getting "drifty" wake ya right up. eat things high in carbs that important ! and dont sleep right now you will wake up in the middle of rem sleep and that will be bad!

That is very unhealthy. I have been through that before with my job. It just isnt worth it. I used to feel sick sometimes from lack of sleep.
I know the fatigue. And the moodiness. It sucks. Get a day job with regular hours. Even if it pays less you will feel so much better!

Ive ran on 4 hours many many times. Youll be fine. Once you get going you shouldnt feel much different. One night like that wont hurt, if you continue that for a week, then you might be feeling bad.

Exercise! If you can take a smoke break you should be able to take a wake up break go to the bathroom and do stretches or push-ups on the wall. This gets the blood flowing and stuff! Works for me everytime!

Get off the computer right now and go to bed four hours is better than nothing. When you wake up run to the drugstore and pick up a diet pill like hydrycut (will make you very alert). Stay hydrated and snack throughout the day.

Depression, Tension & Increase of will-power.

Increasing the will-power : Our mind has a great effect on these glands. For example, continuous fear damages the Pituitary gland and makes one timid. Similarly, tension and worry disturb the Pineal gland and so leads to high B.P. and as Pineal gland controls other glands it also disturbs other glands and digestive system. In modern times, strees-tension or worry-fear have increased and they often disturb these endocrine glands. If these endocrine glands are not treated immediately, it might lead to malfunctioning of other glands of the body. As these glands are interrelated, whenever one gland is disturbed, the other glands also get disturbed. So, when you press on the points of these endocrine glands you will feel pain on points of more than one gland especially in case of chronic diseases. Therefore, it is very improtant to give Acupressure treatment on all the endocrine glands and keep them under proper control.

These glands also control the mind (the will-power). So in order to get rid of bad habits like smoking, drinking, drug addiction or even overeating, it is extremely necessary to give treatment on all endocrine glands for at least, fifteen days. Because, these people lack the necessary will-power to give up bad habits, they often break their vows to stop such bad habits and so they are considered unreliable. However, a treatment of fifteen days will give them necessary will-power to stop these bad habits after that. And they will be free from the withdrawal symptoms of stopping these bad habits.

Nervous tension : In the modern days because of fast life and loss of contentment, nervous tension keeps on building up increasingly, tending to damage our mind and health.

How to find out : Ask the patient to lie down on the back and ask some one to press on the base of the middle toe in both the legs. If there is a hurting sensation,it means nervous tension. If the hurting is unbearable, it means that the person is on the verge of collapse and needs immediate attention.

C U R E : (1) While the patient is lying on the back, bend all the toes of both legs, backward. It may hurt but give little more pressure and bend them as much as possible. Repeat this three times a day till the tension is removed.

(2) Clasp your hands tightly interlocking the fingers. Then with left hand fingers press on the back of the right hand and then with right hand fingers, press on the back of the left hand. repeat for about 1 to 2 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day.

(3) Insomnia : The above mentioned treatment can be taken for 5 to 12 minutes at night in bed to ensure good sleep and cure insomnia.

(4) Take 2 glasess of gold/silver/copper charged water reduced from 8 glasses of water daily.

(5) Kali Phos 1 m (a Biochemic medicine) : Take 8 pills in the eveining between 8 to 9 p.m. for 10 days, then once a week. After 10 days Kali Phos 12 x 4+4 pills every day. Complete course is of 45 days.

Smell something citrusy like orange or lemon, or a minty smell. Keep it on your desk or around you. Get up and walk or just squeeze your muscles when sitting. That keeps your blood flowing. Just keep fighting that tiredness, and you'll be okay.
