I am 49. When I go to a medical clinic it is like an assembly line with a receptionist, say 10 doctors inside, and a busy waiting room. Obviously it is go go go. When I was a child I went to a one doctor surgery in a country town - even though he was busy, he also seemed to take more time, and be thorough. I am not criticising modern doctors, but the changed enviroment they work in - they seem to be hurried by the external economic pressures? I have noticed how long it has taken several aquaintances to get a diagnosis for their problem. They seem to be sent off for one test, or specialist to rule out a possible problem, then weeks later to another ect. If doctors had more time to think things through I suspect these problems could be diagnosed in days, not months. Do people working in the medical field agree?

Those that have quit...how did you do it? Did you have to use gum or patches?

I just burned my finger on a lawnmower engine, and it started blistering about 20 minutes later. I put ice on it, and it soothed the pain. It burns like it's on fire if I take the ice off,but how do I get permanent relief without a doctor's help?

I am a 47 year old man and sometimes I have these pains. Had a complete physical last year because I was not feeling good. Everything checked out fine. Good heart, no diabitis doctor checked blood & urine. Everything normal. Sometimes i get a little pain in chest either side and sometimes a little shortness of breadth it only lasts 5-10 seconds then usually goes away. I work an active job standing on my feet for 8 to 10 hours a day. Do you think its stress or just the joys of pushing 50. I get this more when I'm not working. The small pain always goes away, it can happen once a day or not for a couple of days.

Hi everyone,
About a month and a half ago I was diagnosed with a torn UCL from baseball in my right elbow. I went back to the doctor after I had my MRI and the MRI was negative, and I apparently just had tendonitis.
I took a strong anti-inflammatory med twice each day for a month and didn't play any baseball. We started having summer practice again and in our first game, I pitched an inning in relief. I threw hard and the only pain I had was under my shoulder blade, probably from not throwing much over the last month.
Yesterday, I was pitching. I had a quick 7 pitch inning and felt fine, but in the second inning, I had to throw a lot of pitches and my arm started killing me. I finish up the inning but it was a similar pain from before. A stiff, tight, radiating pain from the inside of my funny bone that radiates to the middle of my elbow and up the underside of my arm.
It affects everything I do and I've about had it with pitching. It only starts if I throw consistently..

My wife had a concussion 3 months ago, ct scans showed no abnormality, she still gets dizziness and loss of balance.
She has seen a neurologist who has diagnosed her with post head injury syndrome.
However she cannot work while she gets the dizziness so is currently out of work until she improves then she will return.
Question is is this normal for this dizziness to go on and on, how long should it typically last?
Also her insurance is paying her lost wages, what happens if she returns and has a dizzy spell and one of her patients suffers, they will fire her.
If anybody can please give some objective answers it would be great
Ben
