If you can take aspirin, that will help take the sting out of the burn. Also, try a soothing bath soak like "Aveeno" colloidal oatmeal bath. Just be sure really lotion up often to keep your skin from drying too much and peeling.

A sunburn is caused by skin cells dying from the damaging effects of UV Radiation from the sun. There is absolutely nothing that will "get rid" of a sunburn, except for time. However, you can use an over-the-counter NSAID like aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxin to relieve the inflammation. Other than that, the cooling gels that do contain aloe-vera are your best bet. No amount of lotion or cooling gel will stop peeling, this is caused by the slothing off of the dead skin cells. The best cure for a sunburn is prevention. The harmful cancer-causing effects of the sun are absorbed by the skin whether or not you burn, so it is very important to use a sunblock each time you will be out.

Aloe vera is very inexpensive at the drugstore and will help the pain of a sunburn. However, you can put talcum powder on a sunburn or you can also put a cup of oatmeal in a warm bath and smoothe the water over your sunburn. A sunburn, unless it has blisters, will usually be much less painful in 24 hours even if you do nothing. You can find aloe vera and other pain relieving sunburn products at any drugstore. You can also take a general pain reliever like aspirin.

You poor thing, I know you hurt! The best remedy I have used is to use white vinegar and apply it to your skin as often as necessary (don't worry the smell goes away very quickly). Also take a lukewarm bath, and pour lots of vinegar in your water and soak in the tub. Keep a box of corn starch in the freezer and apply that as powder. It helps pull the heat from your skin and keeps your clothes from irritating your skin. DO NOT apply any kind of oils or lotions to your skin until the pain is gone. Try and just wear light cotton clothing until the pain stops also. You need to get the heat out and soothe your burn, thats why the vinegar and corn starch works. Good luck and I hope you feel well soon

Nothing gets rid of a sunburn. My dad was a medic in the military back in Vietnam and the army used Preparation H ointment to get rid of the pain. I used it on my daughter who is eleven and she told me that the pain when away right away. (I didn't tell her what preparation H was really for.)

not even aloe vera gets RID of a sunburn, it just soothes the skin while it is healing. There are many products that will do the same thing, but the damage of the sun burn has to heal over time and that is all there is to it. So, put whatever feels good on the burn, keep it covered, use sunscreen and stay out of full sun whenever possible.

Applying vinegar with a cotton ball to the burn before you take a shower helps to alleviate the pain. Then after showering you should use any type of lotion for dry skin to keep from peeling.
