I am a musician who has been suffering from wrist and hand pain, probably because of playing my instrument for long periods of time. I suspect I may be on the verge of carpal tunnel syndrome. Is it true that acupuncture might alleviate most of my problems? Thanks in advance for your insight and for sharing your experiences on this matter.

They want to do a minimal invasive surgery on me to fix this and put in screws and plates and clean me out and redo my spinal fusion. I am scheduled for May 9th and very very scared and unsure if i should go ahead with this at all. Does anyone have any advise or knowledge of having this happen to them?

I don't know if it's heart burn, acid reflux, or what; but I randomly get these (I think) gastric attacks where there's a pressure build up in my chest that last anywhere from 3-5 hours, and then leaves fairly abruptly.

It usually, but not always, only happens if I've eaten something after 7:00.

It's a steady dull pain that is slightly relieved if I sit up, so I can't lay down and sleep.

I can feel it start in the evening, and always gets full blown after I go to bed.

I tried Pepto, tums, rolaids, and even ibuprofin; none of which helped. Twice it has caused me to vomit, which also provided no relief.

The only thing that helps is Prilosec. When I'm on the 14 day treatment, it never happens; but once I stop, it will start again.

And it happens about twice a week on average.

Any ideas about what I can do? (can't go to the doctor, since I am without health insurance for another few months).
Is there an OTC medicine that works better than Prilosec?
Thanks :)

My left ear just slightly hurts and I was wondering if there is any over the counter medicine I can take. I was just at the ear doctor 2 weeks ago and got my ears cleaned out and he said then nothing was wrong with my ears (it didn't hurt then either). So do you think from having them cleaned that might have something to do with why my ear is sensitive feeling now?

First yesterday my right wrist started to hurt on right hand side really bad, feels like there is a ball there, and feels like a bruise to touch or move it( not sure it carpol tunnel, only symtom) and second I woke up in the middle of the night and hurt my neck, ( I guess it was the way I slept) and today I can't move my neck at all cuz when I do it hurts my whole back too not just my neck. Had a hard time sleeping the rest of the night too, anyone have a clue to what these might be? And also I was lazy all winter (laid off from work and therefore not much exercise) could this be the prob?

I have chronic pain syndrome, degeneration disease, sciatica, nueropathy, and the kicker is I'm only 43. My doctor wants to start adding methadone to my meds? I have never really heard anything good about methadone. Just that it is addictive, or that addicts use it to kick other drugs. Is is differant when used for pain. I also take Lyrica, Tramadol, Zoloft, and Verapamil.

I had surgey at 29 s1-l5 disk fusion plus hip graft, and i am sorry i did it, the doctor i was seeing for my pain meds had done all the test he wanted which included lots of epidurals and disco grams which were just as painful. i never wanted to go on the morphine, why i lied because if i would of told the truth it would of been worse,I dont believe getting the police invlolved in family matters, getting help is one thing putting them in jail is another.Jail is not a sollution for something that happened one time and has been punished enough. I lost my trust with my doctor along time ago, i told him the truth all the time and it didnt do any good, so lied on how i felt (my pain)
said i was doing good and really i wasnt . i was in lots of pain, some people just cant live on motrin 800 that does just as much damage if you keep takin them. My doctor didnt even talk to me,maybe if he sat down with me i would of told him why i had the percocet in my system not some PA who just met me twice

Yea... I actually should be studying and doing my homework right now, but I wanted to know what happens to your body if you don't sleep. I've been so busy with school work I haven't slept the last two nights and I may not be able to tonight either. So far I'm just not thinking completely clearly.

I am wondering if there are any websites, or if anyone knows anyone personally or through the grapevine who has had back surgery in the greater Chicago land area.

I am trying to find well rated and reviewed doctors who would deal with herniated discs, spinal cords and surgery for them.

thanks

i was at the beach yesterday and i threw a sandy rock into the ocean and a grain of sand cut through the skin and lodged into my fingertip. i tried to get it out, but my fingers were dirty. i let it be after about 20 minutes assuming there was nothing in there, but today it's a little red and hurts to put pressure on it, as though it were a shard of glass. it looks like a tiny water blister, but the pain makes me think that the grain is clear and that's what i'm seeing. it's deep and went in on an angle so there's no way i can get to it with tweezers or a needle. can this cause infection? HOW can i get it out myself?

I'm after some links, or the like, to do with Pain management, or pain relief therapy... Just looking them up, it only comes up with stuff like acupuncture, or meditation... I'm after something to do with controlling the pain with your mind (Not hypnosis) so you can't feel it, or you can deal with it easier.

Sorry if you can't follow... it's hard to describe.
