General Health Care - March 2007

Hi! I was washing dishes and had, stupidly, put a pair of scissors in the water. I cut a chunk of skin off of the side of my pinky finger. I've been putting Neosporin on it everyday and have kept it covered. This happened last Thursday and it still looks pretty much the same. Should I keep it covered all the time? My husband says I should let it dry out. My daughters dermatologist told us to keep her cuts moist to promote healing but my husband insists that he's right. Thanks for your advice! : )

How do i get rid of a blister on the bottom of my foot. I got it because i just starting working out and i was joging/running for an hour. Are the pop-able? or any household items i could cover it with? I dont wanna go to the docter or go buy some medicine so anything homemade-household would be helpfull!

I was swimming lengths before work in may 2004 when the pool attendants erected a waterpolo goal post while i was in the pool. I was up to length 28. The lane was completely free of any obstacles until i got to length 28. Since then it truly has been a really difficult time. I have had many medical appointments and have an important appointment tomorrow. I am hoping for and acknowledgement of the error that was made in order to me to move on. Ok, today my ear started hurting REALLY bad. If feels all stuffed up. I am pretty sure it is an ear infection. My mom went and found these drops the doctor prescribed like 2 summers ago for my swimmers ear. She wanted to put them in my ear, but i don't really know if it is okay because we are learning in health class that you shouldn't do that. Do you think that it is ok to put the drops in???

Hi, Any medical staff out there that can help please. Around 5 or 6 weeks ago I noticed my middle finger on my right hand was starting to swell slightly so I removed the ring my mum bought me as i didnt want to end up cutting it off.

About two weeks ago I noticed that my finger had swollen more causing it to bend out of shape, it started to bend into its natural claw position and in the past 5 days or so it has worsened and tonight it has really swollen my whole hand feels as if its swelling, the finger is being twisted towards my thumb.

Since the past 2 weeks I have also suffered pain and it has got worse, pain is radiating all over hand, then up to wrist and now it feels as if its travelled up to my elbow. I visited my doctors but the doctor who saw me was Romanian and to be honest I felt that she was unsure, she gave me a course of antibiotics, but when i was at hospital receiving treatment for a problem i have, i was given anti-inflamitary tabs, still gettin worse. help

Im in great health, did some light workout on the machines at the gym, then walking down the stairs my left ear felt like it was clogged all of a sudden, I got light headed and almost fell over. After a minute I felt fine, but I never felt like that before. Is that a sign of something worse coming up or what is it?

I'm looking for personal experience; I've read plenty on the subject already so I know the textbook answer.

I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in awhile. While working out my foot mildly hurt, but it wasn't anything. Several hours later it hurt to even take a step. After more time it hurt even sitting around. I went to urgent care. PA diagnosed a sprain, gave me an ace wrap, ibuprofen and sent me home.

After looking online I think it may be a "march fracture" I'm really concerned because I can't afford to be laid up. What syptoms did you have when you fractured your metatarsal?

The last few days my eye has started hurting for no reason. Actually for the past 1/2 year, probably about 10 times, at night I'll wake up and opening my eye creates a lot of pain, like my eyelid was stuck to my eye and I just ripped the two apart.

Now it's starting to happen during the day, the pain part. I look at it but nothing seems to be wrong.

Any ideas?

I have had hip pain for over a year now and it has recently become much more severe. My Dr. ordered an MRI and called to tell me that it shows no reason for my pain. I am frustrated, as I thought the MRI would tell us how to make it better. I am young and should not be in this much pain, but here I am.

Does anyone know what this could be?

i do wushu and tai chi and it contains very high kicking and jumping ect im generally quite flexible but i was streching and and you have to lift your leg with your hand while standing and ive never been able to do this properly but i pushed myself a little far and made my leg straight and now all he muscles behind my right leg are sore i cant evn hang in the centre properly and it burns.... this is a major prob i have to train 4 chanpionships and dunno what to do please help any advice i tried creams and hot baths ect...

"In my hamstring" I feel a popping like sensation when doing deep stretches. Someone suggested that this could be due to the tearing of tightly woven scar tissue. I do have very tight hamstrings, and my GP has confirmed this. The popping can come at any time, but again mostly with deep stretches. I don't have any of the sympotms for pulled hamstrings, but I'm not ruling it out. Any insights would be great.

I just had a cortisone injection today in my hip joint. I am only 25yrs old and have had a serious of hip surgeries. Turns out I could have arthritis already at my age. Has anyone had a cortisone injection in the hip to help with arhritis? Did it work? How long after the injection did it take to get pain relief? And how long did the shot last for? A few weeks? Months? Any help would truly be appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

I have now got my first case of poison ivy. I managed to get it pulling a vine off of a tree I was trimming. Just wondering if anybody had found anything otc that worked particularly well at drying the blisters up?
