Anytime you are mobile you have a chance to injure your back.

Even running as simple as it may seem, can be hard on your back.

High impacts sports that require jumping, change of direction, physical contact (.e.g. tackling) are harder on your back.

Basketball and Football are popular sports which can be bad for you back.

However, this should not dissuade anyone from playing sports. If you take the steps to develop a conditioned body and use proper form when playing sports you will significantly reduce the amount of injuries.
