General Health Care - November 2006

I work until 1am, 5 days a week and I don't fall asleep until 4:30-5am even though I relax myself and lay in bed. I talked to my doctor and he just said, I need natural sleep and wouldn't prescribe me anthing. But my entire day is wasted while sleeping. Is there any tips or even over the counter meds I can take so I can sleep as soon as I get home and be up at 10am, the latest? I prefer to not take meds so hopefully you can offer some advice not requiring them but I am willing to try anything. I find that I have a lot of energy in the evening and at night, probably because I work such stupid hours. Hopefully you can suggest something that will have me crashing towards the end of my shift.

I'll wake up and notice a bite on my lower tailbone. Either right when it starts to go away or sometimes even before then I'll wake up to another bite in the same spot! I want to say it's a spider bite. But I've tried everything from washing sheets to vaccuming to try to get rid of it. But evenyually It just keeps coming back. Anybody have any idea what-so-ever to what this may be?

Ok, so lately i have had soooooo much homework that i've been up till 12 midnight or even later. I can't afford to get bad grades or not do any homework. i have been goin to bed late and getting up early. I can never hear my alarm in the morning. That's the big problem. i go to sleep and don't wake up until my mom wakes me up. My alarm is on and it works, i just don't hear it. that's never happened to me before. any explanation for this? i am really starting to get irritated... HELP!

Hello. I'm moving to Minneapolis next week. I am disabled with degenerative disc disease and take various medications, among them a prescription for pain. My current pain-management doctor in Colorado told me that I may regret the move to that particular area, that he has lectured there and discovered that Minnesota is notorious for its resistance to prescribing medications for pain, even chronic and dibilitating pain. Do others know this to be true? It's most disquieting...

I went to blod donation camp, for donating the blood, and in the half way, i felt drowsy,and almost unconsious for 10 mins.then itt takes 15mins to come to normal stage.Is that normal or am having any health problem?

I've got a bump on the back of my head, its about the size of a large pea. it hurts when i barely touch it and it throbs intermittently. I kinda crashed backwards into the side of a door last night, but I dont remember hitting my head. Could it be from something else?

I have a huge midterm Friday and I've hardly slept all week. I feel tired, but I just can't seem to fall asleep. All my local drug stores are closed (i.e. no sleeping pills) so any other suggestions?? I really need at least one good night sleep before Friday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

this just started a few days ago but I got a really really sharp pain on the left side of my head it lasted about 15 to 20 mins and then went away for about an hour then came back. then the next day the left eye had blood streaked through it it was not blood shot but streaks of blood. I went to the doctor and they sent me to have a CT scan done. they did seem to be to worried about it but since I went to the doctors the headaches are coming more frequently. I do not have a stuffed up nose and it is not like any migrain that I have had in the past. I am worried it may be something worse, and I am the type of person who doesnt like to wait.

I sleep on a firmer bed, but have been waking up with a sore back. I also wake up about 2 or 3 times overnight. It also doesn't help that I work in a job where I use my back a lot. Should I be sleeping on a softer bed? Do you think it could be as simple as buying one of those foam covers? Would it help keep my back from hurting? HELP!

Molly was full term and her mother did everything right in the pregnancy. Two weeks ago an ultrasound determined she was a very large baby--almost 9 pounds. Her doctor decided not to a C section and wait for things to progress naturally. A few times during the two weeks the baby was not moving and she went into the doctors office to make sure things were okay. Shyeh was in labor for twenty hours before the baby was taken by c section. The baby has a large red bruise on her head and started to have seizures of her left arm and shoulder. She has been transferred to Worcester NIC unit. the baby is on an intravenous drip of fenabarbitol. A CAT scan tonight showed a problem on the right side of the brain--a smalll area either missing, swollen, or crushed. Tomorrow there will be a EEG and MRI by the Neurologist. They also said she could have had a small stroke. Any ideas would be appreciated. Everyone is upset. Anyone seen this problem? Thank you.

I was messing around with my little sister today on our front porch and knocked my elbow into the brick wall. It hurt SO SO bad. It instantly made my arm and hand go numb and tingly and my eyes to water. About a minute later the majority of the numbness went away and just my pinky was numb for about an hour and a half. I see now my elbow is bruised, and I can straighten it without any pain but when I bend it it hurts a ton. The pressure of an icepack on it hurt too much to keep it there. Even something simple as changing my shirt just now hurt an odd amount. Is this something relatively serious or just an ache that will go away tomorrow or so? Never before had my elbow bruise.

lately for the past couple weeks I have been getting drenching night sweats. I'm only 16 so I don't know what could be causing this. It's not not in my room, i sleep with one blanket. I feel ok otherwise,, i mean maybe a little tired, but thats expected, I'm a tired person. I had a low grade fever a few times too, but no other symptoms happened, i felt fine. I'm gonna see if it stops in another week. I had them in september and august a lot and they stopped, so I'm going to see if this is the same case. In the meantime do you guys know what it could be. Is there anyway to stop these nightsweats. I really hate haveing wet clothes in ther morning.
