I've got a bump on the back of my head, its about the size of a large pea. it hurts when i barely touch it and it throbs intermittently. I kinda crashed backwards into the side of a door last night, but I dont remember hitting my head. Could it be from something else?

sounds like a hematoma (which is basically a bruise beneath the skin).

there really is no cause for concern as long as it doesn't seem to be getting worse. it will eventually disappear on it's own. you can apply an ice pack to it for 10-15mins at a time, 3-4 times a day to help reduce the swelling.

for the pain-take ibuprofen 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours. do not take aspirin b/c it thins your blood and can make the bruise worse.

report to the emergency room or call 911 if:

-the bump seems to be getting larger in size
-the bump splits open and begins to drain
-you begin to run a fever of 101.0 or higher
-you develop a severe headache that won't go away
-you begin to have dizziness, nausea or vomiting
-you become confused or disoriented

Sounds just like a sebaceous cyst. They are common on the scalp. A sebaceous gland gets infected, clogged, swollen and sore. Sometimes they go away, often they stay for your whole life. If it gets extremely painful/very badly infected, a doctor can remove it.
