just apply neosporin to help ward off infection.

scratches typically take 7-14 days to heal up completely so give it some time and try not to pick at it or scratch it if it begins to itch.

things to watch for that would indicate infection are:

-the redness around the scratch increases or it begins to swell
-the scratch opens and begins to drain liquid (pus)
-you begin to run a fever of 101.0 or higher
-there are red lines extending from the scratch to the rest of your body (indicates infection in the blood-you'll need iv antibiotics asap)

these are all signs of infection and you'll need antibiotics to treat it. remember that underneath our nails there can be hidden germs and bacteria so make sure to wash the scratch well with mild soap and warm water and apply the neosporin-you should be fine within a week

Noni juice works great for a variety of skin problems. It is anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Buy it at the health food store. It is pricy, it stinks, but it is a gift from heaven. You can apply it topically with a cotton pad--keep it on for 15 minutes so that it is absorbed into the skin. You can also drink the juice--a few tablespoons a day. It tastes junk, but your body will love it.

Also, a diet with more fresh fruits and veges will help you heal.
