I have a white noise machine that helps me sleep. It is relaxing.
Also try breathing in and out, really concentrating on the breathing slow and evenly. When you breathe out repeat the word "relax' in your mind. Starting at your toes and going up get your body parts to relax one area at a time as you exhale and say "relax". Sometimes the next morning I wake up and realize I never got past my thighs because I fell asleep.

Sleeping pills won't do you any good. Yes they'll get you to sleep but they won't let you go through REM wich is the deepest stage of the sleep cycle. You need something with tryptophan in it like turkey, cheese, or milk--light portions. Also light exercise 30-45 minutes before bed time. Also limit activites in the bedroom to sleep. If you can, try to study somewhere other than your bedroom. Make sure your bed and clothing are comfortable. If you can get a back massage, that's good too. Also try as hard as you can not to stress out too much, study hard, don't stess. So stop studying 15 minutes before sleeping. I am in the same boat you're in and I just had a lecture on sleep on Monday. If you took the time to read all this, I suggest you get away from the computer and go to sleep, that is if you are in the Eastern Time Zone in the US like me....Oh, I'd better go to sleep too!

The best way i know is to have a bowl of cereal with milk, becuz the milk makes you sleepy - don't drink coffee or pop with caffeine in it for two hours before you want to go to sleep. A hot bath usually makes me wake up more, so i don't do that one. Also, try having a turkey sandwich with milk - turkey has the same benefits because both milk and turkey have tryptophine in them - that's why people get sleepy when they eat thanksgiving dinner!

take a nice hot bath or shower, drink so warm milk, and if it gets really bad take a small alcoholic drink and then immediately lay down to go to sleep. I had to drink a little something to get me to sleep when I was studying for my finals, because i was so stressed out.
