I have noticed if i get a shock, eg, being woke up by loud thunder in the night, when i feel my pulse i notice it has slowed right down like it is going to stop & then it starts racing like mad, almost like my blood pressure went right down & it's racing to bring it back up to normal levels? Is this normal or is something wrong with my heart?

I am a 29 year old woman, weighing 129 lbs, 5'5'', I smoke and drink caffiene....

For two days in a row, my blood pressure was taken. Everyone seemed concerned with how low it was. I, on the other hand, rationalized that since my blood pressure was the same as the 12 year old boy that they had tested, I must be healthy because it was equal to a young person.

Stupid I know, but one never hears much about low blood pressure, only high blood pressure.

Anyway, here are my readings:

(Both readings were taken at the same time of the night, around 7:30)

On the first night, it was 110 over 70.
On the second night, it was 100 over 70.

Please tell me if I have cause for concern. Thanks for your time.

A friend's grandchild has been born this morning with this condition. He was not expected to survive the birth but has so far.

For various reasons, not the least of which is emotional, my friend has not been able to find out or share much information, other than:
- the baby's heart being formed as two separate halves (this was known prior to birth as it was seen on the ultrasound);
- it also affects his stomach, but I don't know in what way;
- it may also affect other organs.

Does anyone know the name of this condition?

Hi, i read about this article which concluded that people with higher BMI (obese and overweight) has a lower heart failure mortality compared with those with lower BMI (normal or underweight).

So, what would a possible explaination for this? Thanks :)

I am a 33 yr old female and I swear I have heart issues. I have had so many test done for my heart and everything has come back 100% normal.
i have had countless number of EKG's
I have a 48 heart montior
I had a echo of my heart.
my bp is a little high (bottom number in the low 80's)
my cholesterol total is 166.

I do suffer from panic/anxiety and my Dr (bless his heart he is awesome) says all the things I feel is related to my panic not heart.

Is there really anything else they could do to test my heart or did I pretty get everything?
My doc said he wouldn't send me for a cardic cath cuz everything else was fine.

Everytime I stand up from a seated postion or sit up from a lying postion I get dizzy and my blood pressure drops. I went to a cardiologist who put a 24 hour halter monitor on me and it showed when I have these episodes I have an extra heart beat. The cardiologist more or less said I was a fainting goat and he didn't want to see me again. What I want to know is, could this cause serious problems for me, should I talk to another doctor, or am I a "fainting goat"? I'm a 24 year old female. I exercise six days a week, drink 64 oz. of water a day, and I eat several small meals a day. When I exercise, my heart rate goes from 74 bpm to 225 bpm in less than five minutes, I get short of breath, and my chest and left arm begin to hurt. What's going on? Someone please shed some light on this for me.

I get chest pains, my heart skips beats. I want to quit taking this drug but the energy i get from it is addictive. I am also wondering if anyone is a doctor and can tell me if I am doing irreversable damage or if after I quit taking the drug the side effects will go away?

I am a 32 year old female experiencing intermittent chest pressure (w/ numbness and/or tingling radiating on my left side, arm, and neck) frequently at rest and shortness of breath upon any exertion. Due to previous experience, I am positive it is not heartburn, injury, or muscoskeletal. The shortness of breath began about two weeks ago. In the past two months I woke up due to chest pain or because I was unable to breathe at least once a week.

I have multiple cardiac risk factors (high BP, pre-diabetic, slightly elevated cholesterol, weight) and a heart murmur (although I understand they can be benign). HOWEVER, previous EKGs taken during previous episodes have shown no problems. My fitness has improved, so the recent shortness of breath is a concern. I know this is a stupid question, but have to ask - I don't want to waste money or a hospital visit if it's likely I can wait and/or it's not a heart problem

I have just had a baby and at different times during the day, i experience an irregular heart beat. Does anyone know what would be the cause of this irregularity or what i should do in this case? I have been thinking of seeing a cardiologist or is this just a phase after the child birth, which i must say was stress free?

This is the second time i noticed this has happend withn the past week. I get about 3-4 hours sleep day.. because of my little ones and have been oing this for past year and a half. I am taking three classes at once on top of it. i dunno if maybe Im over exhausted but the first time i was washing dishes and i got really light headed and everything turned white then i kinda shook my head (as if to snap out of it) and my right eye kinda got really blurry very instantly.. and stayed blurry for about 2 minutes then it came back to normal vision. Today i had class ame home feel really tired and took a bubble bath and in the tub sitting down I had the very same light headed feeling and my right eye lost focus again. Its like the same feeling when i was preggers a year ago when i had low blood presssure and fainted but i didnt have the vision issue in the right eye. I hate going to a doc unless i have to and this may be a stupid reason to go in for...

My dad was diagnosed with IHSS 13 years ago they put a pace maker in to help slow the problem with the heart. One year ago his heart rate went to over 200 and we almost lost him they put a pacemaker/defibulator combo in his chest. I know he's really sick but could he live 40 more years with this..They said he is a severe case. He is only 43 years old. I just wish this was all a bad dream that we could all wake up from.
