Everytime I stand up from a seated postion or sit up from a lying postion I get dizzy and my blood pressure drops. I went to a cardiologist who put a 24 hour halter monitor on me and it showed when I have these episodes I have an extra heart beat. The cardiologist more or less said I was a fainting goat and he didn't want to see me again. What I want to know is, could this cause serious problems for me, should I talk to another doctor, or am I a "fainting goat"? I'm a 24 year old female. I exercise six days a week, drink 64 oz. of water a day, and I eat several small meals a day. When I exercise, my heart rate goes from 74 bpm to 225 bpm in less than five minutes, I get short of breath, and my chest and left arm begin to hurt. What's going on? Someone please shed some light on this for me.

Orthostatic hypotension, and some sort of an arrythmia going on. You really need a second opinion.

Do the following yogic exercises everyday and you will have all round good health without any stress and side effects and will definetly solve your heart problem:-
1. Arathamathesendrasan (reduces the folds on the side)
2. bhujangasan ( reduces the fat & creases on the back)
3. halasan ( flexes the muscles & reduces the creases)
4. dhanurasan ( flexes the muscles & reduces the creases)
5. sarvangasan ( controls the whole body to perfection)
6. mathsyasan ( increases the chest & reduces the stomach)
7. nauli kriya ( the best for stomach)
8. mayurasan ( very difficult but best for the belly )
9. bhastrika pranayanam ( breathing exercise, very best and must as this controls BP, prevent lung diseases, increases the brain power, will never get cough or cold and controls your anger and other violent emotions, brings in crimson complextion to the face etc, etc)
10. sevasan. ( This is the last exercise and this removes all the stress and strain of all the above exercises )
Do all these exercises every day in the morning before breakfast and after nature calls because both your stomach & intestines should be empty while you do this . Do it regularly for 1 month with confidence and see the magic CAUTION: If at all you feel uneasy at any stage then discontinue these exercises because they are practically no side effects but a heart paitient like should be careful.

Changing positions quickly can cause presycope (prefainting) normally. In order for your body to go back to normal your heart will race too. Not a big deal. Some things to try is to drink more water, and increase you sodium levels. This will increase your blood plasma volume. Exercising is great, but make sure you are replacing all of the fluids that you loose during exercise. What is very abnormal is your heart rate. Most people's maximum percieved heart rates should be 220-age, for you it should be 196 bpm. All of the symptoms you are feeling are abnormal with exercise and you should seek another opinion and discuss this with your doctor if you haven't already. The key to finding any health problems are a good history, so know your own and your family history and your own symptoms, what they are and when they occur.

I have a similar problem to yours that developed 16 years ago when I was 24. My cardiologist wrote it off as "holiday heart" and said I would be fine. Here I am many years later and while I still experience it, I don't think it will shorten my life unless I dwell on it.
In effect, I think that is what the cardio doc was trying to do. Let you know that you were fine and shouldn't worry about it too much. When wearing the monitor, they can analyze lots of information about the exact timing and possible causes or future concerns based on how your heart is reacting. So many people have conditions like this but you just don't hear about them until you experience it yourself and then it is very serious and very worrisome to you.
My biggest problem with my heart issue was not the skipping beats, it was my anxiety over it. After a couple of years, I went to my personal doctor and discussed it with him. He reassured me that I was in good health and the problem was not worth worrying about. Now, when it occurs, I notice it but it no longer concerns me.
With that being said, and based on just reading your description of what he said and the obvious concerns that you still have, I would think that a second opinion would probably put you more at ease and perhaps give you some ideas about how to cope with the condition better.
Good Luck

Have no idea of what a "fainting goat" is, but I am pretty sure you need to seek other professional advice. What you have is orthostatic hypotension. In other words, the blood is leaving your head when you change positions from lying or sitting to standing. I don't liike the sound of the extra heartbeat and going from a pulse of 74 to 225?..in 5 minutes is definitely tachycardia. You are short of breath because the blood isn't getting to the heart muscle and that is what is causing the arm to hurt. Please see someone else and demand good answers and treatment...this is not your imagination...please get up slowly and don't begin to walk till your head clears...this is hard..but you don't want to pass out.

i'm so sorry, but i have no idea what a "fainting goat" is. but ur positional changes and subsequent dizzy spells are very characteristic of orthostatic hypotenstion. the extra beat and jump in heart rate could be any sort of rate/rhythm control problem with ur heart. u should really get a second opinon!

How long has this been happening for? Take a nap and drink some tea. If dizziness and headaches persist see a doctor.

It sounds like you have positional blood pressure, they should take it standing sitting , and lying down, and look at the difference, you may also have a mitral valve condition, but i would see a different doctor by all means, you are not a fainting goat,,, sounds like you just have a jack *** for a doctor !!!
