I get chest pains, my heart skips beats. I want to quit taking this drug but the energy i get from it is addictive. I am also wondering if anyone is a doctor and can tell me if I am doing irreversable damage or if after I quit taking the drug the side effects will go away?

I took Ritalin SR and now I suffer from tachycardia. I stopped taking the drug three years ago. My heart has never gotten better.

I am a healthcare provider....but I need to know more information before I can answer your questions. What was it ordered for? How long have you been on it? How old are you? And the big one....why can you not ask your healthcare provider about this? The side effects will go away after you quit the medication. But if it was ordered for a medical reason (and it MUST be because this is a controlled substance and usually not ordered lightly) then why are you also not concerned what healthcare problems will resume after you quit the medication. In other words....if you are an adult.....talk to your heathcare provider BEFORE making this decision. Otherwise...talk to your parents.

If you are getting chest pains, go to an hospital ER ASAP and get checked out to make sure you are not having a heart attack!!!
