Can someone tell me how or whom do I talk to to get some?
Please, I really need to get on meds. My doc left me high and dry and I don't think he even knew what problems I was having. As he was telling me he was dismissing me the nurse walked in with my file which had the 5 hr glucose test my eye doc ordered. In one hour I was at 318 in blood sugar. I waited since Monday to see him. He just got back from somewhere. I had a tough time with his staff and I was persistant and demanded to be seen and demanded referrals to the endocrinologist and the podiatrist. The staff felt I went over his head. I feel I did what I had to. My foot hurts so bad I walked with an unsteady gait, yet he asked me nothing of it. I wish him well and myself a much better doctor. I now have these appt.'s but still no meds~

The medical industry is quick to rely on what they have been told in/re cause of diabetes. There is no empirical evidence to draw on. So does obesity cause diabetes or is it just an early manifestation of it? Is there a yet to be discovered agent of transmission that makes diabetes communicable?

They say that if you have had diabetes since the age of 13 then you are a type 1 diabetic but what if you are 50+ and all of a sudden you get diabetes ad they diagnose you to be type 1 is this possible?

I am thinking about getting an insulin pump, I'm about 50/50. My one big question though is how am I going to go through daily life with it. I feel like if I was younger, older or male I would not be facing the dilemma of "can you see my pump under my fitted t-shirt?" : P I know that you can clip it multiple places on your clothing, but then that brings up where to clip and what about things like dresses. I realize this worrying is petty, my health vs. how I look, but unless I'm comfortable, I'm just sticking to my Lantus (literally).

I have been a diabetic for 40+ years. Type l. Recently, though, I have been swelling alot, and Demedex that is prescribed for fluid is not working like it use to. My Dr. says swelling is normal, as we get older, but sometimes I can hardly get my shoes on or off. What's up? Does anyone know what to look for in kidney slow down or failure? Have you experienced this?
