When you are going hypo, what is your favorite blood sugar boosting food? What features other than sugar make it practical? For instance, I like Twizzlers and Pop tarts more than just for the taste. They don't melt, they are cheap, and they stay fresh forever. The Twizzlers don't crumble if you smoosh them. I can't say that for the Pop Tarts, but you can still eat them if they are smooshed. What do you folks like? What are the practicalities associated with your choice?

I was diagnost with Diabetes type II 2 months ago, and started with Glipizide XL 5mg once adya, then 10 mg a day. Since then I have gradually been lossing my hair, I sometime feel itchiness and have a very dry sculp. Is there another medication that I can take. Would reducing my medication work? My blood sugar is back to normal, and even sometimes its too low, could I just try stop taking my medication?

My husband was told years ago that he is borderline diabetic. He isnt on meds; he just has to watch his diet and eat something sweet every day or two to keep his sugar levels up. (I've never seen his sugar get too high, it just gets too low sometimes.) He has been having some other problems the past few months, and now the dr is saying it might be diabetes-related, and he has to go get it checked and probably start taking meds. Would that be type 1 or type 2? Will he have to go on insulin or pills, or adjust his diet? Just looking for opinions or info from someone in a similar situation.

These days were created for the chocolate industry. How do y'all deal with it? Do you just have an IV full of Humalog ready to go? Do you restrain yourselves? Do you go hog wild and say, "I've been good all year, but today all hell breaks loose and Hello Ketoacidosis?"

was previously diagnosed with gestational diabetes two years ago. levels have been normal since except for maybe a few low readings. sometimes below 60. I am wondering if maybe the combination of sugar in the coffee and a pop tart was just too much sugar? Or if maybe i checked it to soon. this has only happened the last two days so i don't have many readings to compare to. I have checked after eating a hot dog for lunch today. I had a glass of water to drink. It was 148 and hour after eating and 140 two hours later. Please any advice or help.

I have a very bad cold and don't know what "over the counter" medicine I can take that won't interfere with coumadin (blood thinner) and insulin for diabetes.
