was previously diagnosed with gestational diabetes two years ago. levels have been normal since except for maybe a few low readings. sometimes below 60. I am wondering if maybe the combination of sugar in the coffee and a pop tart was just too much sugar? Or if maybe i checked it to soon. this has only happened the last two days so i don't have many readings to compare to. I have checked after eating a hot dog for lunch today. I had a glass of water to drink. It was 148 and hour after eating and 140 two hours later. Please any advice or help.

That was alot of sugar you were eating. monitor it for a wk. My huband is a diabetic. that would be high for him. drink water when its past 150 this fire fighter that rescued my husband said drink a lot of water, that would kind of level your sugar off.

Your B/S shouldn't be that high, even after the sweets. I'd say: you are not getting any exercise (real exercise), you are over weight and probably what they call pre-diabetic, but very close to becoming diabetic. If you dont want to be a diabetic, stop the simple carbs now (includes white sugar, white flour, etc). Get MOVING -- exercise 30min aerobic and 30 min wt training 5 to 6 days a week!!! Eat complex carbs in small portions, fruit, veggies, whole grains, also low fat meats and an ounce orf nuts 2 or3 times a week and some omega rich fish 3 times a week!!! And go see your doctor right away! Ask for the 3-month diabetes test !!! This will show if you are diabetic already or not -- HURRY !!!! Vote mine best answer if it has helped you.

Home monitors are not diagnositic tools. They can be off as much of 20%. In this case your blood sugar could as low as 169 (or as high as 252). As already mentioned, glucose levels do rise after meals, however, it's been my experience when testing countless friends and family that have never gone over 150, and usually not over 100. It's best to wait 2 hours after a meal to test. If you're concerned, and if it's been a while since you have been tested, call and make an appointment with your doctor. Have a Glucose Tolerance test done and find out for sure. As you probably are already aware, gestational diabetes is risk for type 2 diabetes. Better to get a handle on it now if you're are in fact diabetic. Good luck.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Yeah, that's just the pop tart and sugared coffee talking. I bet you were pretty wired for work, eh?

I had a girlfriend who was curious about my blood sugar testing and asked if I could test her. She had had 1 kid. I checked her before and after a high carbohydrate meal. She went from 120 to 240 and back down again. In a normal person, insulin takes time to get from the pancreas to the body's cells. It is not an immediate adjustment.

If you are consistently up in the 200's and 300's even when not eating loads of sugar, then you have something to worry about.
