if you add fiber to your diet and excercise, your triglycerides will go down. Fiber grabs the fat in your blood and helps take it away.

In the measurements used in England, 2 to 2.5 is normal after 12 housr fasting for triglicerides, 15 years ago mine were checked and found to be 23 (1,000 percent what they should be) and my cholesterol was 13.75 (double what it should be). I was put on Bezalip 200mg, 3 times a day and have taken it ever since and it brought my triglicerides down to about 6.5 and kept them there.
5 years ago I was checked for diabetes and found to have type 2 diabetes, with sugar around 200 (normal is up to 120) after 8 hours fasting. I was probably diabetic a long time before but it was not checked until 5 years ago.

I have..the Doc recommended...fiber....fish oil supplements and a teaspoon of cinnamon a day...I also walk for about 1/2 every night....we'll see how it works in about two months....her philosophy is that I was diagnosed as a type 1 at age 29 and to be put on cholestorol medication at 40 would just add insult to injury.

excercise and watch carbs. The things you ate the day or two before your test can alter the results, just so you know, I was diagnosed with hyperlipidemia about two years ago and the doctor put me on tricor, and told me to change diet and blah, blah. Well I had blood taken again the other day and they were completely normal and I stopped taking medicine and dieting about one month after I started. Then he informs me that what you eat can alter the results. So when I drank my whole town dry the day before the test it had an effect on the results. Get a second opinion!!!!

Triglycerides tests for the amount of animal fat intake in your body. Cut down drastically on dairy and meat products.

I take zocor, tricor, fish oil and use flax seed as well as follow a very low fat diet, eating white meat and lots of cold water fish. Fat of any kind raises your triglcerides. Losing weight will be benificial as well as a high fiber diet. High triglcerides is something that us diabetics have to deal with. Get a lot of exercise also.
