You must make an appointment to see your doctor straight away. A blood sugar of 21.4mmol/L is too high, even if you had just eaten. Are you fit and well otherwise? If you have an infection of any kind your blood glucose will rise. Some people with Type 2 diabetes will end up on insulin because the rate of destruction of beta cells in the pancreas increases. In Type 2, your pancreas still produces insulin but at a much lower rate. Eventually this can lead to such a reduction in the production of insulin that you become Type 1. Your doctor will probably want to do a fasting blood glucose level, and also a HbA1c level - this will show your overall control. Make an appointment today if you can, and good luck. :)

I am type 1 and I usually feel dizzy and sometimes sick if my blood sugars are that high - not a regular occurrence but sometimes it happens. It's not the same as a low but at the same time you know it's diabetic related.
You may have had something that you didn't realise was that high is sugar content, or given something by accident, I can't remember the amount of times I've ordered a Diet Coke and it hasn't been diet. Luckily I can tell the difference having been off normal coke for 19 years but someone like yourself may not be able to tell, always check with a blood sugar strip. Even the Accuchek strips work, just look at the other side to see if the colour changes from yellow to green (green means sugar).
If you feel dizzy in future check your levels quick and tell someone in case you collapse before being able to remedy it....

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/axLWC
A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

See your doctor, you should not have a glucose level that high! Your dizzyness may well be connected with the diabetes but you need to find out for sure, there are other things it could be.
I keep my glucose levels at around 4 - 6, this suits me. But I wouldn't have thought you would need to worry about them going too low as type 2 diabetics are more prone to high blood sugars than low (but this does depend on your meds so don't take it as gospel!!).
If I get a high reading I always wash my hands and try again...sometimes it's right and sometimes its wrong :D The most spectacular highs have always been due to hand contamination!!!

I have type 2 also, every Diabetic is different.
I eat less carbs, more protein and moderate fat.
70% protein, 20% fat and 10%carb based on a 1700 cal diet.
my sugar levels are always 6-7. I take my sugar level 6-8 times a day. Too high can cause more health problems such as blindness/ kidney problems SO SEE YOUR DOCTOR your insulin may need ajusting.

Hi, I am a type 1 diabetic and take 4 insulin injection daily. It sounds as if your sugar levels are normally good, I don't know what hapened to make you feel dizzy or to make your sugar levels go up so high. If you are in The UK you need to call your diabetic nurse or doctor, I would do this with some urgency just to put your mind at rest. Best wishes.

It could be due to any number of things.
If you had a high carbohydrate meal when you ate, or ate too much, your tablets may not have been enough to cover it.
If you're premenstrual, you may to adjust your tablets to cover you for the couple of days coming up to your period.
If you're coming down with a cold or virus or sickness of any kind, that can skew your sugar levels.
If you didn't exercise that day, that will tend to leave you with higher blood sugar, and extra stress will do that too.
Do you test your urine also? If you dip it for ketones, it will show you whether you have sufficient coverage from your tablets.
The best thing to do is to have a chat about what happened with your doctor. Sugar levels that high are not desirable at all - you may need to have your dose adjusted.
Make sure you get plenty of exercise regularly and avoid high carb diets.

Dizziness isn't just from low blood sugar or high in this case. It usually happens when your brain (for whatever reason) isn't getting enough blood and therefore O2-the result is you are made to lie down so your body finds it easier to deliver this blood. Lesson to be learned-don't ignore dizziness -lie back. Hope you feel better soon!
