Just curious. I was diagnosed with it several years ago and I'm wondering if I have a tolerance to the discomfort. I also have Type II diabetes witch is added to the mix. Thanx all.

Although I dont totally agree to underage drinking, we all know that they do. She was very ill after being drunk and was admitted into hospital in a very serious state, we made her aware of the dangers of drinking alcohol and she fully understood but she feels left out and gets very depressed that she can not do what all her friends are doing. My question is, if she was to have alcohol which is low in sugar (Bacardi Breezer - Half sugar) and at a maximum 2 bottles at a party, could this be classed as acceptable or not?.

Hi again, I have a question regarding a recumbent bike. I have arthritis of the hip and knees, and would like to purchase a recumbent bike, because after research, find that they are put less stress on these joints. I have a limited budget, and want to get the best that I can for my needs. I want a no frills bike . No added features. Just a bike to exercise on. Anyone out there that can tell me which bike is well built , and reasonably priced???? Again, thanks

It seems as though the same questions are asked over and over.
What would you post as basic information for people coming to this site for the first time or who have recently been dxed ?

Also , does it bother anyone else that people with no diabetes education post answers when they have no clue, here in a medical forum ? What can be done about this ?
Thanks.

I think my endo.. is just nuts . They tell you take this, try that sometimes not even knowing how the hell they work. I was on HumilinU. This med is now discontinued in Canada. My Dr. says take Humilin N or Lantus. Please could anyone who is on these meds give me some feed back. lantus is very expensive too. I am now taking 18units of Toronto Regular penfill and 40units of humilin N.

Situation: I am a 58 year old diabetic male and currently on 5 units of Humilin R twice daily together with 25 units of Humiln NPH plus 1 tablet twice daily of Ratio-Metformin.

Morning sugars before breakfast range between 5.8 - 7.4 mmol.

Two hours after breakfast, sugars range 6.5 - 8.7 mmol.

Two hours after lunch, they jump to 10.2 - 13.9 mmol.

Before supper, around 7pm, the range from 8.6 - 9.7 mmol.

What should I do to bring my "after-lunch" sugars down?

My boyfriend just found out that his sugar is way to high. His doctor doesn't seem like he's really sure of what he's doing. He gave my boyfriend 2 weeks to drop a few pounds and change his eating habits or he will be put on medication. He didn't give him a meter to check to see if it's coming down. He also told him to avoid beer but other alocholic beverages have sugar and carbs so why wouldn't he tell him not to have those as well? He also has sugar in his urine and his blood sugars were well over 500 but no pills were given to him to help bring it down. Since he's only offering weight loss at this time as a cure all can anyone suggest things he can eat to bring it down. I've changed his diet by reducing his carbs and sugar. Now he's feeling depressed and saying he doesn't care because things he's use to is being taken from him.
