It seems as though the same questions are asked over and over.
What would you post as basic information for people coming to this site for the first time or who have recently been dxed ?

Also , does it bother anyone else that people with no diabetes education post answers when they have no clue, here in a medical forum ? What can be done about this ?
Thanks.

List of symptoms of diabetes
Differences between type 1 and type 2
Causes of Diabetes
normal blood sugar range
guideline to treat high and low blood sugar
Is there a cure/ will there be a cure
Nutritional info

I am sure there are many more things to add, but these are some things that I see posted several times a day at least.

It does bother me a little when I see answers that are totally wrong. Don't think there is anything to do about it, other than the power of a "thumbs down". Smart diabetics unite!

Thanks for posting this question Cammie. Here are my suggestions:
1) Think before answering, and answer the question. Don't ramble about irrelevant things.
2) If you are type 2, don't answer a type 1 question.
3) Don't post: "See your doctor." The person asking has already considered this and is not satisfied with his doctor, doesn't have one, can't afford one, doesn't trust doctors, wants real diabetics' opinions, etc. There are also some doctors in this forum, including myself. So chances are, they may get a response from a doctor, whether it's a medical GP doctor, an internalist, or a PhD. Also, there are decent responses in here from nurses and med students.
4) Read other answers before actually posting when composing your question. Yahoo suggests previous answers to your question as you are typing it.
5) Use good spelling and grammar. Don't insult us with bastardized English or cyber-shortcutted English. You will get better answers if you communicate clearly.
6) Use your own judgement and take responsibility for actions you take on the answers you get. No one else here is liable for any actions you take from their advice.

Go to diabetics classes or the ADA sight for info
Keep lab appts on a regular schedule
Take your meds and watch your diet
Excercize
Test your blood sugar
It doesn't bother me that uninformed people post here, since all information on ANY internet site cannot be taken as the gospel truth. And I would think (and hope) that most people on this site
would realize there was as much opionion as fact as untruths posted, and that anything picked up here should be thoroughly researched elsewhere.

I am a diabetic. My downfall was sugar.
Most sugar subs also agravate my problems.
If people would learn to cut out sugars and their subs, many of the illnesses caused by sweetners would dissapear.
I am not going into all the illnesses because there are too many to list.
