The main cause of diabetes is that people who consume a lot of sugary food such as dessert and soda. Moreover they did not get enough exercise to burn off what they eat or drink and the blood sugar level are above normal. Most of the food we eat is turned into glucose, or sugar, for our bodies to use for energy. The pancreas, an organ that lies near the stomach, makes a hormone called insulin to help glucose get into the cells of our bodies. When you have diabetes, your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should. This causes sugar to build up in your blood.

Diabetes is caused by the Pancreas, which is not able to produce Insulin. Whats insulin? Insulin transports glucose into the cells for use as energy, and when it doesn't or is not there to do it, it gives the victim Diabetes. Insulin is produced by the Pancreas.
Even a normal Pancreas will slow down Insulin production if the demand is high and constant, On set is the most common and is caused by over eating and no exercise if any. This is called Diabetes Type 2. Diabetes Type 1 is when the pancreas ceases to produce almost any insulin or all Insulin due to the Flu and High Temperature of lets say 103 for a long period of time or an injury to the pancreas in a car accident, or foot ball injury or any severe injury that would cause the Pancreas to stop producing can cause Diabetes. Heretics has very little to do with who's going to get Diabetes. Diabetes is well in place even before it's activated so if your parents have Diabetes Type 2 and you don't, eat well, keep the sugar to a minimum and exercise regularly.

There are two types of Diabetes. Type I (insulin dependent diabetes) the pancrease does not produce enough insulin to control blood sugar. The causes is thought to be an enviromental factor (possibly a viral or nutritional factor in childhood) that causes destruction of the insulin producing cells of the pancrease. Type 1 diabetes accounts for only 10% of cases. People with this form of diabetes must inject insulin, and are usually diagnosed before age 30. In Type II Diabetes (non-insulin dependent) the pancrease continues to produce insulin, however the body develops a resistance to it. This usually occurs later in life, but can occur even in childhood. Obesity is the greatest risk factor for type II, 80-90 % of people with type II diabetes are obese. It can also run in families. Blacks and hispanics are also at greater risk. Less common causes of diabetes are pregnancy, and drug related causes.

Both type 1 and two are genetic.Yes, being overweight and having a genetic predisposition may lead to diabetes but not all overweight people get diabetes. The underlying autoimmune disease must be there.

Diabetes is mostly genetic. It is a disorder of which the pancreas' ability to produce insulin to control blood sugar is lowered. You can't simply acquire diabetes. Its not contagious nor is it acquired by simply eating lots and lots of sugar.
