My mom told me a story about a lady that smelled a candle scented with musk and it made her so ill that she had to go to the hospital. Can this really happen? I've never heard of people with such extreme musk allergies. It makes me think the lady was exaggerating her allergy. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the subject, thanks!

My throat hurts so bad for almost a month straight. Medicine doesn't work and I went to see a doctor and his medicine didn't work. I don't have allergies or anything. When I say my throat is sore I mean that it is EXTREMELY painful and HURTS LIKE HECKKKwhen I try to swallow. What should I doooo? Salt water gargle doesn't work and I have excellent hygeine. Drinking tea and honey with lemon doesn't work either. Most sore throat medicines don't even help.

I am suddenly sneezing uncontrollably and it feels as if there's a big fuzzy thing tickling my nasal passages. Is this an allergy attack or could I just have inhaled an irritant like a lint ball that I simply have to eject by blowing my nose? (serious question, although I know it sounds odd)

You see, my classmate claims to be allergic to chocolate. I wore a lotion from Bath n' Body Works called "Wickedly Hot Chocolate," and I checked the ingredients and none are alike of actual chocolate. She said that she was not feeling well because of it. Is that possible?

I recentley got my hair highlighted(monday) todays wednesday. A couple of years ago I developed anaphalaxis and had to carry around an EpiPen.. well.. I still take allergy medicine for my sinuses and to control my allergys.. but I have'nt had a reaction in years. I had my hair highlighted about 4 months ago.. And I went to get some brown in it, today at school my neck started feeling funny, and when I felt it, it was bumpy and odd feeling.. It looks and feels like a rash. Could it be from the hair coloring? Am I in danger? Help please

It seems like ever since I have been pregnant I have had 3 outbreaks. one with a little bit of swelling on my wrist one morning, and the other 2 was with my lips swelling up. once it happened in the morning when i just woke up and the other happened today after i ate chili and brocoli cheese soup. Im not allergic to anything in these foods ive eaten today, so what can it be? could it just be the hormones in my body cause im pregnant or what?

I'm sorry if this sounds gross but this is a serious question. The inside of my nose feels really irritated. I'm trying hard to ignore it but it's driving me nuts. What can I do to make it stop? It's dry, so nothing is accomplished when I blow my nose.

My son is 5 months old and he has had a "cold" since the day before Thanksgiving. It hasnt gone away! I suction out his nose and put saline drops in as often as I can. His symptoms are that he has a runny nose or sometimes it sounds clogged back in his nasal cavity. Every once in awhile he coughs, its sounds like he does it becuase of his nasal drip. He rubs his eyes and nose all the time. Around his eyes is pink sometimes. I have taken him to the pediatrician like 3 times over this. The first two times they just said to do the saline and suction. The third time they said he had a little congestion in his lungs but to just keep suctioning! Im worried this is either going to turn into something worse or never go away! I feel so bad for him! He has trouble eating, sleeping and holding his pacifier sometimes. What should I do? Is this normal?

...but I really love popcorn shrimp. My husband orders some sometimes when we go out to eat. I dont want to deprive him of enjoying himself for my sake. But my mouth waters at the site of it. But if I was to eat any, Id blow up like a big puffer-fish. Im even allergic to iodine, break out when it touches my skin. Is there anyway I can overcome it and enjoy a nice meal as my husband does. I know Im probably at a loss but Id thought Id give it a try anyways.

how long does it take to go away

Foodwise, I'm violently allergic to:
1. all poultry meat - the worst by far
2. much seafood - calamari, mussels and probably oysters too (not brave enough to try) and certain types of fish like sole
3. certain nuts - pistachios and cashews
Also: some unknown foods (probably additives) which cause similar symptoms.

All result in severe upper back pain, mouth watering and nausea within minutes, and can last up to an hour. Occasionally vomiting - all symptoms disappear quickly after vomiting.

I'm also severely allergic to cats - short and long-haired cat hair gives me big puffy red eyes, and cat scratches makes the surrounding skin swell up immensely.

I also get chronic hay fever from pollen if untreated. Currently using nasonex (nasal spray) which has eliminated it.

I don't know anybody that has allergies like mine, I've been told by my GP that they're common but I don't think so. Is this known? Are there any other things which I could be allergic to?
