I'm always looking for natural & inexpensive ways to ward-off what could be a sinus infection. I usually get out the heating pad and cover my eyes with it. I always thought the heat would "kill" any bacteria, etc. and it seems to relieve the pressure. The other day, someone suggested using a cold compress to "shrink" the sinuses. Does anyone know which is actually better?

With so many options out there, how do I choose the right med? I have two cats and getting rid of them is not an option. However, they make my eyes itch and water, my nose stuffy, and I now even suffer from asthma. In fact, I've always been quite the athlete, but I can't even jog a quarter mile now without my inhaler. I never had asthma before I adopted my cats. I even experience itching if my cats lick or scratch me... like a little skin rash. I'm also allergic to pretty much anything else... dust, pollen, pollution... I was never allergic to anything in my younger days but now (I'm 20) it seems that my allergies are peaking. HELP! I want to breathe again.

I am just wondering. Lots of people in my family are allergic to amoxicillin, would penicillin affect them the same? Sorry if anything is spelled wrong.

Anything, at all? I'm about to have a baby and I'm totally wanting my best friend to stay with me for a few days, but I have a cat (mostly outside) who I don't even really mind leaving outside, but she's allergic. Is there anything I can do to at least make her stay more comfortable for her? Even if she has to get a hotel room at night, I still don't want her to be miserable during the day while she's visiting. Any suggestions?

I don't care how it is made. But isn't it a pain to buy allgery medicine nowadays. The Patriot Act signed by President Bush on March 9, 2006, prohibits the sale of more than 9 grams of pseudoephedrine in a month. Plus you have to sign and show picture ID. Is anybody else finding this a royal pain in the a$$. I have respiratory allergies, so does my girlfriend and her two children. We have to alternate buying the allergy medicine so we do not go over the 9 gram limit. Now the meth problem in the United States is affecting normal every day people who just have allgeries. Your Thoughts?? Can you really make Methamphetamine from one box of Claritin D?

she has a sore on the outside of her ear that she has had for 3 months but when she shakes her ear it breaks open and bleeds on her head. My boyfriend has looked inside her ears with one of those ear scopes but nothing found, even our local vet said its just a sore on her ear, I dont know if there is something going on in her ear that makes her shake her head or rub her ear causing the sore or is it just the sore on her ear that is itching and she is shaking her head because it itches, Any comments, you can see her on http://hollithesidecardog.com

My husband has told me in the past few days that when he feels real full, he feels like the food stays in his throat/chest and he feels discomfort. It's like when he eats his food is not digesting well. What could it be? Or is it anything that we should worry about?

Can anyone tell me what this entails, and is it worth it to do? Does it actually reduce your symptoms permanently, or is it just another way to reduce your reactions?

I have an itchy rash on my neck and last night I had pizza... I have had this before, plus the skin under and around my eyes swelled after I ate wheat germ. I rarely eat foods containing wheat, but at Christmas had whole wheat bread with no reaction- do you think my itchy rash is due to a wheat intollerance? What are the symptoms?

According to the skin test, I have terrible allergies. I don't sneeze, cough, have runny eyes/nose or asthma, but I do get headaches. An sinus infections quite easily (3-4 times a year, although that is much less than before I had sinus surgery).

I am on maintenance now with the shots (once a month at $25), and have only noticed a slight reduction in headaches. They have not enabled me to discontinue taking my zyrtec-d and nasal spray ($60 month).

Are the shots really worth it or just a bunch of bunk? What is your experience and/or advice?
