According to the skin test, I have terrible allergies. I don't sneeze, cough, have runny eyes/nose or asthma, but I do get headaches. An sinus infections quite easily (3-4 times a year, although that is much less than before I had sinus surgery).

I am on maintenance now with the shots (once a month at $25), and have only noticed a slight reduction in headaches. They have not enabled me to discontinue taking my zyrtec-d and nasal spray ($60 month).

Are the shots really worth it or just a bunch of bunk? What is your experience and/or advice?

The nasal spray is Nasacort - not the afrin-type. Also, the over the counter antihistamines don't work, which is why I take zyrtec-d and not something less expensive.

By the time you are on maintenance, you should be receiving all the benefits of the shots. It sounds like they are not working for you. I had allergy shots. It took me 7 years to get up to maintenance level. By then, a lot of my allergies had disappeared.

What I would do is get an mri of your head to rule out anything really serious. If you did that then I would try over the counter allergy medications. If that doesn't work then yes I would continue the allergy shots. I used to take allergy shots as a child but then I outgrew the shots, meaning my allergies got better. Now that I am way older, I get headaches, I take over the counter alllergy medication and the headaches go away....Hope this helps.

Allergies are an attack on your immune system at the liver. Stay off the nasal spray, it will only narrow your nasal passages, & cause additional problems down the road. Go to the health food store, not GNC, & get this product called X-Clear, you can also buy it online. It is a saline solution nasal wash with xylitol [which is a natural sweetner derived from birch tree bark] . Visit this website http://www.mercola.com I think you will find a wealth of information here. The doctors want to keep you on drugs, as they are the fodder for the pharmecuetical industry. They are good for antibiotics ONLY if you are dying, for fixing things like broken bones, knee replacements, hip, etc. Try the X-Clear, it works!!! The surgery for the sinus problem, is horrible, & they will want to do it again, if they keep giving you those nasal sprays. Try a liver cleanse. The info is out there, but you have to look for it. I stay away from the doctors, as they only want your money. Good Luck.
