sandwich at lunch. What would you do?
My son is protected under Title 504 in a public school for his severe peanut allergy. It has been a long road, but my son is very aware of his allergy and of the people around him and to avoid anyone with peanut butter. Our decision as a family was not to isolate our son at a peanut free table (which basically does not exist at the school...he theoretically would be sitting by himself.)
Today he tells me that a girl was purposely taunting him with peanut butter after he told her that he could possibly die if he ingested any. She held a sandwich in the air close to his face and waved it in a circle and yelled "oooooo" ... My son and a friend told the teacher after lunch what she had done and the girl was called aside privately and spoken to.
Should I take any more action with the school? A phone call? A letter to the teacher? What would you do?

She can eat eggs, turkey and any other kind of meat but chicken seems to be her enemy. Anyone know what this is called and if there is a way she can cure or take anything to help her. (And yes, avoiding chicken is one of the options.)

I developed an allergy to my birth control that causes my hands and feet to itch really bad, it even wakes me up in the middle of the night. I've stopped taking it but the symptoms still bug me. How long before it leaves my system for good? Is there any way to flush it out faster? Also, can somebody tell me how to ease the itching? I've tried claritin and it hasn't worked.

My pharmacist told me to add 1/2 cup of vinegar to 1 gal of water in my cool mist humidifier when I use it. Has anyone heard of this? I thought you just used vinegar to clean humidifiers.

It seems the only option left for me...antihistamines and nasal sprays only provide relief and not the cure. Do they work?

I woke up on Thursday with a light rash on my face. By Saturday morning it really flared up to the point I looked like I'd been in a fight. My eyes were quite swollen. As the day went on it seems like it went down but now it's swelling up my eyes and my cheeks and it's really starting to peel. I went out today and the sun actually burnt my face. I've tried to put moisturisers on my face so stop it drying out but everything I put on it makes it sting...EVEN PLAIN WATER!!! My friends and family think I've eaten something I'm allergic to but I can't think of what it may be. Does this sound familiar to you? I am going to see my doctor but getting an appointment is sometimes diffiuclt. What can I use that won't sting my face?

I became lactose intolerant a couple years ago. At first I was fine after eliminating milk and ice cream from my diet. Over time it's gotten worse and have had to cut out all types of cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, ranch dressing, anything made with powdered milk like cocoa mix or boxed macaroni and cheese. I've tried lactaid and lactose-free milk and get the same symptoms (nausea, bloating, stomach ache). Can anyone suggest what might be wrong since lactose intolerance isn't the full issue? Because even dairy without any lactose or with lactase additives to help digest it still makes me sick. I know I need to stick to a very strict diet but its really hard since so many things are made with whey, milk solids, powdered milk, etc.

He is 55 yrs. old and developed this allergy 20 yrs ago. He has since had to give up favorite foods such as bacon, ham, sausage etc. I get concerned being in a restaurant that serves breakfast all day because I dont know how well the grills are cleaned..Im afraid he may get an attack & would have to be rushed to the emergency. Is there a way around these preservatives? Are fresh sausage safe for him to eat, I heard Organic Markets are now available and do they carry meats? Any information would be greatly appreciated, Sometimes even the heavy smell of bacon can trigger an attack & I am very worried, and concerned.. Thank You.

I've had what I think is some kind of allergy for quite a few years now, it comes and goes. When at it's worst, I can get it 2 or 3 times a week, and sometimes I can be lucky and be ok for a month maybe 2 months without it. It happens all year round so I don't think it is hayfever. I've had it in mid winter.

The symptoms usually start in the morning shortly after I have had a shower / bath. This seems to disturb it. I will get watery red eyes, runny nose, a bit of drowsyness, and lots of sneezing - in a day I could easily sneeze over a hundred times, sometimes I sneeze 20 times non stop!

I also get it if I wear something out of the warddrobe that I havent worn in ages, say if it was getting near winter and I started wearing a fleece or jumper that I havent worn in a long time.

If I was to rearrange a room's furniture, dust and hover the room out that can also set it off.

The symptoms last at minimum half the day, and at most about 2 days. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks,

I have heard that honey that is unfiltered and raw (not processed) has been used in treating allergies to pollen. I don't know what kind of pollen but I imagine most tree, grass and weeds. I read an article that said to take a couple of teaspoons a day before the allergy season starts and it would help in improving your symptoms.

I have been nursing for his whole life but since he is nursing less, my supply is getting low and I can't seem to keep up anymore. I need to get my son to drink something else (besides water - which he loves). I tried milk and he had such a change in behavior, he was crabby and completely difficult. He was so unhappy and seemed actually inconsolable. I then tried soy milk thinking he might be allergic to regular milk. But I got the same reaction with the soy milk. Talked to my pediatrician who wants me to "push" the milk. After seeing the reaction in my son, I just don't want to put him through it again. He also can't tolerate ice cream or yogurt. ANY IDEAS???

My 5 yr old son has a bad cough. No fever, no srep, no ear infection. The doctor said Oh well. .....Cough medicines are ineffective according to a new study. Just give him plenty of liquids. I dont remember anything like this coming up as a child. This might sound weird but there is a thing called rogue antispyware. It's basically computer terrorism to make you buy their .software. I think the medical community is doing something similar.
