My pharmacist told me to add 1/2 cup of vinegar to 1 gal of water in my cool mist humidifier when I use it. Has anyone heard of this? I thought you just used vinegar to clean humidifiers.

I have never heard of it, but I am having to use a humidifier for my child right now. It does not seem as if it would give any help for symptoms - Maybe he was talking about cleaning it.

i've actually done this before. it is supposed to clean the air and the humidifier clears out your sinuses. i wouldn't worry about it at all. you should ask your pharmacist why to put it in if you are interested.

Yes I've heard of it, it helps to kill bacteria in the water and parts of the machine.
