It seems the only option left for me...antihistamines and nasal sprays only provide relief and not the cure. Do they work?

They worked for my husband and everyone I know of that has had to get them.

I've never had them but I was a candidate for them. The reason I didn't start them was because even my doctor couldn't argue with my logic. I am allergic to dust. Severely allergic - one of the worst cases the doc had ever seen. I was given a blood test and the scale was 1-15 (15 being very allergic) I was 99.5 on a scale of 1-15.
Anyway, the way I understood it was the shots gave you a little bit of the allergen each time and slowly you built up an immunity. My argument was I am around dust 24 hours a day. It isn't like a typical allergen that you are only exposed to seasonally or if you eat something, or are around an animal. Dust is everywhere. I said why should the shots work if I am exposed to it all the time and I still have an allergy? Shouldn't I have built up some sort of an immunity by now? Not this ridiculous allergy? he kind of agreed with me and really couldn't answer me because what i was saying made sense.
I didn't see how they could help me so I never had them done. Plus I was afraid of what would happen when they injected the allergen directly in me since i am so allergic.

I'm glad you asked this because many people in society are unaware that allergy shots can actually offer a permanent cure to allergies if followed strictly over a 5 year time span. People are under the impression they will have to take allergy shots the rest of their life and that's not true. What allergy shots do is it exposes your body to tiny amount of antigen which allows it to build resistance to common allergens. However, you must follow your shot schedule strictly and do so for about 5 years for this effect to take place. Imagine being free of having to buy antihistamines the rest of your life.

They really worked for me. My series of allergy shots lasted nine years. I don't even have to take antihistamines anymore. Also I am no longer allergic to raw fruits and vegetables. It was two years before the shots started to help and five years before I had complete relief.

yes they do. i started taking allergy shots 3 years ago and its so much better.
