Take him to the doctor tomorrow (sooner, of course, if he's showing signs of distress), and get him tested. It's worth it to have the peace of mind that he isn't allergic.

Not all kids are alike. Just because big brother has an allergy doesn't mean little brother will.

I have a friend whose oldest has a nut allergy, and I know how worried she gets (and she should!) about nuts in the food, in the air, or even in the craft supplies. It's a dangerous condition. But try not to over-react in the case of your youngest.

I hope it all turns out well.

I know it's very scary because your older child is allergic, but relax. If he had a problem you would see it, meds or not. Just because one child has an allergy does not mean they all will. For the sake of the older child, however, you need to keep these products out of your house. Every exposure to an allergen sensitizes the system to create an even stronger reaction to the next exposure.
Accidents happen so you must educate your allergic son so he will protect himself as he goes outside your home. Some schools are forbidding nuts at school, even for bag lunches. The result is a safer school environment - BUT Parents I've spoken with about this say eventually a careless exposure as a young adult happens and their child winds up at the E.R. The Mom's I know wish they chose education rather than eliminate the risk at school.

Disagree with taking him to the doctor if he's not symptomatic. Allergy testing is usually not covered by insurance for children under 4 due to it's unreliability.

I think he'll be fine. My niece has a nut allergy too (along with several other) and when she was that age it was not very severe at all... i've heard it gets worse with exposure, and that it is very rare to have severe reactions like breathing problems from first exposure.
Don't worry too much, if he was going to have a reaction like that, it would have shown up within about 10-15 mins. It would be a good idea to keep him away from nuts if you think he has or might develop an allergy.

I do not think you have anything to worry about. My husband suffers from frequent allergic reactions(unknown origin), i have lost count as to how many reactions he has had. It starts with a cough (for my hubby could be different for your child), The symptoms are so obvious you could not miss them.Cough, facial swelling, difficulty breathing, It sounds like he is fine, you have done the right thing by administering Piriton, Just stay alert.

Nut allergies cause an imediate reaction, if he is fine as he ate it, he'll continue to be fine. Food allergies aren't the same for everyone. For instance I am the only one in my family who has food allergies, your older son might be the only person who has the allergy. It depends on the person.
