Why is complete water-only fasting supposed to be bad for type 2 diabetics? I am 63 years old, and I have been diagnosed with diabetes for about 10 years. I am 5'9 and 245 pounds. Thirty years ago I fasted for 10 days and lost 25 pounds with absolutely no problems. (That is, no problems until I broke the fast with a cheeseburger -- instant nausea!) However, that was long before I became diabetic. Now I am supposed to take pills for my diabetes, but I have quit taking them because they drive my blood sugar way too low ... as low as 32! I would like to rapidly get rid of a lot of weight, and I am considering a long water-only fast. The conventional wisdom is that diabetics should not fast, but I can't find anything in the medical literature that supports that idea. On the contrary, there seem to be studies that show that diabetics have benefitted from fasting or from very low calorie diets. Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with fasting by non-insulin-dependent diabetics?

They told him he could live up to 2 years with medication and if he stops smoking but they also said he has a 14% chance of beating it all together. There are two things he needs to do the doctors told him one he needs to quit smoking and 2 walk. He hasnt even started kemo and he doesnt walk. He continues to smoke. I know he is an adult but he cant drive because of medication plus if he gets caught driving he will be put in jail for 2 1/2 years from so many dui's in the past. He doesnt have a drinking problem anymore however since he cant drive i figure if i got with his wife and me and her made a choice to stop driving him to get his smokes as well as everytime we see a smoke we throw it away. If he wants to kill himself that bad i figure let him walk and at least by that he is doing one thing the doctor told him to do. My question is after a heart to heart if he doesnt take us seriously should i do this? He will be angry and i understand that and im willing to go threw it with

Needless to say, I mean the semen is from a person who is HIV positive. Also, can a surgeon's blade thats not cleaned properly cause HIV infection.

I have never even kissed a girl before---so it's nothing sexually related ...but yesterday I did smoke weed, and I shared a pipe to smoke it with my friend. First of all is this related to sharing the pipe with him as our saliva came in contact most likely? I am a bit of a hypocondriac so often times I try to convince myself that I have something when most often I don't. Also up until about 3 weeks I had always brushed my teeth once a day...but in the last 3 weeks I have been brushing anywhere between 2-5 times a day. Is my tongue irritated from the additional brushing all of sudden or is it related to sharing the pipe? There's no way this could be herpes is there? I mean would herpes show up after only a day? If it's not herpes what is it....open up your own mouths, and look closely and tell me if there are tiny red dots---not many just check if you have them, cuz then I'll know that's supposed to be there.

The abdominal/pelvic CT scan with contrasts states small foci of decreased attenuation measuring up to 7mm of the liver. Punctate foci of high attenuation of the kidneys and foci of decreased attenuation in the ovary measuring up to 2.2 cm. The patient has a small lump underneath the right ribcage and RUQ pain radiating to the right flank area and all on the right side for about two months. Positive history of cancer. Father had kidney cancer. I am being sent to a surgeon. They would more than likely do a liver biopsy, right? Any opinions? Thanks so much. Getting ansy.
