Eat right and exercise. Follow the directions that your doctor has given you and should be able to control it.

Great question! I am a type 2 diabetic, and I'm constantly trying to find ways to control my diabetes without pills and the side-effects they sometimes cause.

You have to keep track of your blood sugar levels, so you will know whether your diabetes is under control. If you don't have a diabetes glucose monitor, get one and use it.

In recent years, medical research has shown benefits of the once-controversial low-carb Atkins diet. However, there also is research that supports the other extreme in the form of the high-carb Ornish diet. What you can learn from both approaches is that healthy high-fiber carbs are good for you, and refined carbs are bad.

So, eat limited amounts of carbohydrates, and don't overdo it at any one meal. As much as possible, cut out refined sweets like sugar, candy, cookies, cake, pies, and even bread.

Also, choose carbs that are high in fiber. Good choices are avocados, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, peanuts, peppers, and tomatoes.

I am a diabetic for over 20 years, aand it is difficult sometimes because the littlest thing can set it off. Like menstrual periods, dehydration, illness, stress, etc. One thing that I know is a super plus is a diabetic educator! I have one that I see monthly that checks my feet, does my toenails, does blood work, helps me with insulin doseages and is available to me 24 hours a day! Also, watch your carbs. I've known alot of regular physicians that are pretty dumd to diabetes. It is very important to get the right information!!

Try a vegan diet. A recent study found that the vegan diet will reverse type-2 diabetes. See http://www.vegetarianorganiclife.com/ I believe a vegan diet will help the type-1 diabetic too.

Diabetes is a chronic disorder. One way it occurs is when the pancreas does not secrete enough of the hormone insulin. Diabetes is commonly categorized into two types. The first type of diabetes is sometimes called insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) or juvenile-onset diabetes. It results from a shortage of insulin.

Eat nothing with oil, sugar, salt, cream, butter, rice and no pastries. Follow the recommended diet for diabetics. Walk one mile per day. Monitor your sugar. See your doctor regularly.
