I work for a manufacturer and we are machining some aluminum. In doing the machining the shavings are coming off like curly q's or even curly hair. They would be really neat to use in a craft. What kind of ideas does anyone have to use these for?

I knew it was a shot in the dark and called a welder but they said it was too small of a job for them, I do still have the little bit and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to put it back on or a suitable substitute?

Oh and please refrain from any "stop smoking" comments, I thank you.

I'm going to make up a recipe box for someone with all ethnic recipes in it and I thought about buying an unfinished wooden recipe box from a craft store and decorating it somehow. I am artistic and crafty in any way possible and can really do anything to this box, just need some ideas. Any input is greatly appreciated! :)

It doesn't have to be a recipe box either if someone has a better idea.

I've run across many old photo negatives from several decades ago, and I'd like to be able to store each one individually to minimize further damage or deterioration. My first thought was to use sandwich bags, but they take up a lot of space compared to the negative sizes.

I know there are specialty bag retailers, but it would be nice to find something similar enough that I could buy at the grocery store. The sizes vary, but many of the negatives are a little less than five inches by a little less than three inches.

Any information from the terribly obvious to the marginally relevant is appreciated.

I cant really find one, I dont like collecting things.
Building things sounds kind of fun, but I mean like woodworking not premade model cars that I just assemble.
I am Emt going to be a firefighter, I like helping people so maybe like working in a soup kitchen or something.

What would be a good hobby (Besides woodworking)?

Hello! I would like to make 5 retro styled aprons for friends and family for Christmas. The patterns I have call for cotton fabrics like calicos and waffle weaves, but I would like to use something heavier that wouldn't wrinkle easily and lays flat. I've already committed one apron to a light weight denim but I need suggestions for the others. I've looked at cotton duck but most are solid colors and I want cute, funky and feminine patterns. So I've focused most of my attention to cotton draperies but so many of these are "dry clean only" - I just don't know where to turn anymore. Any suggestions? I would be so so grateful! BTW - I'm a new sewer (if that isn't obvious). Thanks!!!

So my quilt has 7 inch squares. 5 of my squares, I want to be made up of 4 smaller ones and the finished square needs to be 7 in. with a 1/4 seam, how big should the four smaller squares be? And would this be easier to do if I decided to make my squares all 6 in? and if so, then what would the smaller squares need to be for a 6 in final square?

I'm a total beginner. I would like to start sewing small animal hammocks using fleece and some quilting material. Any ideas as to which machine would be best and under $100? I have been told to get an automatic threader... or something along those lines. No clue what that means, but would certainly appreciate any help you can give!

Hi everyone,
I remember when we got assigned to sew together a kit and they could be anything (an animal, I did a soccer ball, etc..)
Does anyone know if those kits still exist? If so, what is the website/contact information...if not, could you direct me to a website that specializes in this?

The package would contain furry fabric, instructions on where to cut/sew, the stuffing/batting and everything you needed to make your own animal or whatever.

Thanks so much!
Nancy
