The bit that hold the latch close on my cigarette case has popped off, what's the best way to get it back on?

I knew it was a shot in the dark and called a welder but they said it was too small of a job for them, I do still have the little bit and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to put it back on or a suitable substitute?

Oh and please refrain from any "stop smoking" comments, I thank you.

Maybe someone could solder it? (pronounce "sodder") That's a kind of welding for very small things.
