Can anybody help me edge a shield? I don't want to use a hose or rawhide. This is for SCA combat.

I'd think a wooden shield would be edged with metal. The SCA might frown on that, though....Most of the SCA shields I've seen were just edged with a heavy layer of duct tape to keep the wood from splintering, then painted over. I'd suggest visiting their site--if they don't have instructions for making a shield, they probably have a link to them.

Try using an old push bike tyre .
