I have a friend who puts raw mushrooms in her salad and I've grown up learning that mushrooms can be toxic, poisonous when eaten raw.

Who's right here?

Surely being vegetarian is about not eating the flesh of animals only ? Other than that you can do what you like and still be a veggie can't you?

I want to start a vegetarian diet but I am really allergic to soy and nuts. I can't eat anything that has more than a trace of either. Are there any other foods I could get my protein from?

Here's what I've tried so far:
(using extra firm)
--frying cubes--so far my favorite, but I feel like I'm adding so much fat.
--baking
--squeezing for hours
--freezing first, then cubing
--scattering like ground beef (seems too much like scrambled eggs)

I've tried it in variuos dishes (stir-fries, wraps, fajitas, pasta dishes...)
Am I missing something? I am OK with the above, but I want more out of the tofu experience....help if you can.

I am a raw food vegan so I need healthy fats and more calories in my diet, but I am fearing that since I'm also trying to lose a few pounds that eating avocados and nuts will only keep me from reaching my goal.

Do I stay away from them?
