You don't. Eating meat (just like your vegetables) is good for you. In moderation we need meat because of the protein, there are other roots to protein but eating meat is just a fact of life, that is our position on the food chain.
I also love to wear fur and leather... amazing, I love mink and the feel of suple leather is orgasmic

Educate your mom...perhaps everything she has heard about Vegetarianism has been negative.
If you are planning on this however, please research your choice carefully. If you and your mom are both aware of the foods/nuts/berries to consume that give you some of the same nutrients obtained from meat, it might be more understandable to your mom then and she may be okay with it then.
Personally, I would recommend that you not take the vegetarian lifestyle too strictly. I am considered by everyone who knows me a vegetarian because I do not consume beef, pork etc. However, I do eat chicken on occasion. I also eat eggs on occasion. I don't consider myself vegetarian however.
If you can add a meat (chicken/turkey/fish) if you like any of those, then it's wise at your age to include these. After you hit 18 then you can choose to be full vegetarian if you want...but at this point I recommend a) research, b) some additional form of proten via chicken/turkey etc. above what the vegetarian diet offers.
Good luck and eat healthy and wisely Vegetarianism can sometimes be unhealthy for you if not done correctly.

just go up to her one day and ask her "mom, when we go to the grocery store tomorrow, would it be okay if we got more vegetables and fruits? I'm considering eliminating meat from my diet, and I want to try out some other options". It will probably only upset her if you expect her to cook you a special meal every day. If you are old enough to make the decision to go veg. then you should be responsible enough to cook for yourself...and a lot of the time it is easier to cook vegetarian dishes anyway. Get some easy recipes.

I had the same issue when I stopped eating meat. my parents were supportive... but i had to deal with everyone else turning their noses up at me.
I would suggest you make sure you have all of your facts in line. You'll probably hear things like, "you're supposed to eat meat", "meat is good for you", "you need meat to get protein", and one of the dumbest things I heard.. "god put animals here so we can eat them".
Let her know that as long as you are planning out your meals properly, you will get all of the nutrients you need. there are plenty of other foods that have protein. Basically, you just have to show her that its not just a fluke idea you came up with. And that you have researched and you know what you need to do to keep yourself healthy. Eventually she will see you are serious and start to respect your decision.

Think for yourself - don't worry about what other people think.
Tell her that eating meat upsets you and find out what health benefits there are to becoming vegetarian (there are a lot!!)
Don't worry about protein - there are lots of vegetables that contain good levels of protein and vegetables protein is better for you than animal protein.
People should judge you for who you are - not by what you eat. People will respect you for standing up for what you believe in - I think that all those people who 'hate vegetarians' are simply jealous because they'd never be able to do it themselves, and they'd rather eat dead animals all their life rather than make that little sacrifice.

Just don't do it. Don't come right out and say your a vegetarian. When ever someone asks you why your not eating meat just say you don't like it. Why should you eat what you don't like? They wouldn't eat any veggies they didn't like. I'm almost the same way. I don't really like meat. It just doesn't taste good to me.

Just talk to her. Tell her that you hate eating meat. Tell her why (you hate the mistreatment of animals, you don't like the taste, you think vegetarians are more healthy, whatever) Tell her that you don't expect her to cater to your needs, and if she makes something with meat in it for dinner, you'll either just eat the non-meat dishes, or make yourself something. Just ask her to accept you and you might want to throw in something like "Well at least I'm not a meth addict mom! I'm a vegetable addict! You should be thankful!" I mean, I'm not a vegetarian, but I certainly think people should be if they want to be.

First.. I don't know why somebody would just want to eat nothin' but veggies... and why you would want some juicy, tender, succulant chicken.. or a nice, med-well done BBQ steak..... but, to each his own as the saying goes.
Now, having said that.. who gives a crap what other people think anyway.. it's your life.. if you don't want to eat meat.. don't. You are old enough that you should be able to make your own choices in life... so.. tell your mum..... if she doesn't like it.. then she can eat the meat you don't eat. It's your life... if that's the choice you've made... why I don' t know... then she should be able to accept it... BUT.. you should have some reasonable answers as to why... she'll ask.

If you havn't talked to her about it yet, then talk to her. Give her your reasons for wanted to be a vegetarian. I guess you're 17, and i personally think that is perfectly old enough to be making your own choises about what kind of food you want to eat. I have 3 vegetarian friends, and none of their parents are happy with it. But they go on with their goals and are themselves, meat eating or not.

If you don't want to eat meat, just don't. Why would your mom get mad? There are other ways to get the same nutritional value. My daughter, when she was 9 yrs. old told me that she was not going to eat anything with a face. I did a little dietary research, and adjusted our family menu to include everyone's preference. She grew up healthy and smart, and has 2 beautiful sons of her own! You're 17 and capable of making that decision.

I know how you feel but don't let that stop you because that is your decision. Ever since i became a vegetarian my parents keep telling me that i will die die if i don't eat meat or they ask why i decided to become a vegetarian. I get so many dumb questions and concerns from people...sigh.
