"Although difficult to quantify, vegetarians are estimated to have accounted for 5.1% of the UK population in 2003, down from a peak of 5.4% in 1997."

Additional facts from another source.
"
- There are 4 million vegetarians in the UK.
- Women are twice as likely to be vegetarian as men.
- In the past ten years, the number of vegetarians has doubled and is increasing at a rate of 5,000 each week.
"

A quick calculation of current UK population (~60 million), shows that if 4 million folks in the UK are vegetarian, then that gives a percentage of ~6.6%. So it looks like the percentage of vegetarians in the UK is between 5.1% to 6.6%.

See sources listed below.

BRMB research in May 2004 found that 7.6% of UK adult population considered themselves to be vegetarian. Food Standards Agency reported in October 2003 that 5% of UK households have one or more vegetarian members. Food and Drink Federation research indicated in April 2003 that 7% of UK population call themselves vegetarian.

The proportion of British people who avoid eating meat some or most of the time is much higher - last figure I read was 12%, or 1 in 8 of us. I can't remember the source of this figure though.

I always estimated about 10% of the people I know. But the people I've known for a long time ......most of the veggies have started eating meat big time. I started eating fish after 12 years when I was in the Gambia. I can't face anything mammalian or avian yet though.

A lot, and inshallah will grow more and more INSHALLAH (God willing) Believe me, if more people get educated about Islam the growth of Islam around the world will go sky high but everyone is just learning about Islam from the US-funded media which is 100% anti-Islamic.
