My roommate is avoiding onions and garlic because he says it actually affects him for his Meditation. Does it really affect people who meditate? Is it necessary for a person to avoid onion, garlic to meditate? Or they just avoid them to control their desires?
Btw eating onion and garlic will have any negative effect on health?

Any one know from personal experience? My husband and I have a high intake of less fat meats and other proteins, but is it healthy?

I'm a lacto-vegetarian who loves Japanese food, but I'd like to know if Japanese mayonnaise is also made with egg like the commercial ones?

Would also appreciate if anyone knows the list of ingredients. Thanks!

I'm on a strict diet that requires three cups of six different veggies for lunch. My favorite so far: tomatoe, carrot, cucumber, celery, califlower, & zuccini with 6 sliced green olives stuffed with pimento and a bit of the olive juice over everything.

I already asked this question, but realized that I posted it in the wrong category...so I wanted to try again and see if the response is any different.

I read an article that said some European researchers (can't remember which country) had successfully grown fish in a laboratory and they're working on pork, ground beef and chicken nuggets. The author of the article suggests that we may have no need for slaughterhouses in the future and may be able to put this part of our barbaric past behind us, as we did with slavery. How do you feel about this? For you die-hard carnivores, does the thought of eating laboratory-grown meat bother you? Vegetarians, would you start eating meat again if it didn't involve the slaughter of animals, or do you not even crave the taste of meat? With laboratory meat, they could apparently get rid of risks such as salmonella, mad cow, e. coli and bird flu...does that make you feel any differently?

I am trying to lose weight and I'm not much of a meat eater. Sometimes I might eat some chicken or salmon but mostly it's this:
Fruit
Vegetables
Non fat dairy
Low fat cheese
wholegrain bread and pasta
oats
nuts and seeds

Does this sound like a good diet for weightloss and general heatlth?

What is your opinion about being vegan? People are vegan b/c they are compassionate w/ animals like pigs, cows, chickens, and turkeys. Vegans chose to be that way b/c they think that there's animal cruelty. Abuse to used to painfully kill these animals for food.

I am not a vegan. I am asking what do you think?

Not letting your kid enjoy milk shakes, ice cream, chocolate, jelly beans, jelly babies sounds pretty damn cruel to me.

I know the carnivores will suggest all kinds of red meat for me and liver, but I'm really trying to stick with vegetarian for as long as possible. (Years, if I can do it.) I've begun taking Vitron-C again to help, but would rather get iron, naturally, from foods if I can. In case you need a number, my hemoglobin count is usually a 9. Normal is btw 13-15. Any suggestions?
