Especially if you lived in a small town, and the only cupcake you can get is from your local grocery store. We do have "Coldstone" for sweets but thats about it.....

Based on some of the answers I've been reading over the last couple of months it seems like everyone is eating way too much fat (especially transfats), too much processed food, too much fast food and way too much sugar.

I read so very little about fruits, vegetables and whole grains but so much about frying food, making desserts and just generally loading food with non-essential and unhealthy ingredients.

They serve the carrots, green beans and brocoli practically raw. Now, I don't like mushy vegetables either but I do like them to be able to put a fork in them easily. The exception is 5 star restaurants. Of the very rare times I ate at 5 star restaurants, I always got perfect veggies.

We Americans have so much junk food, and fast food restaurants, and huge, greasy portions at most other restaurants it disgusts me! Our grocery stores are filled with crap that we shouldn't eat or feed our loved ones, and yet we do it anyhow. Anyways, I was wondering if this is as much a probelm in Europe.

Please only answer if you live in Europe or have stayed there before.

Why do people toast bread?

What are the benefits of toasting bread (apart from heating the bread!)?

And on the other side of the coin - any negative effects of toasting bread?
