does the stuff really go 'bad'?

It goes bad after 4/5 days. what I do is I buy the kind that comes in a paper carton, then after I use what ever I need I stick the remaining in the freezer, that way it does stay good for a good while, until I'm ready to use it.

Not sure about the can but the cardboard container says to use within 2 weeks of opening..and yes it can go bad.

your not supposed to store an open can of anything in the fridge...throw it away

First of all, get it out of the can. You can always freeze it for use later.

if it is the tin can,dont use it,never leave any food items in the can, you could become ill
