I add Cinnamon to coffee on occasion and I can tell by looking if I added the half/half first It LOOKS different. The Cinnamon all floats to the top if I add the half/half first. Maybe it has something to do with the the oils in the coffee? or the Cream? In cooking sometimes it's very important to the taste to add things in the correct order. So I'd say it's possible.

All this talk about granules! Coffee is coffee made with ground coffee beans and boiling water. The milk, if you must, is added afterwards. Granules (instant coffee) are fine and make a pleasant warm drink, but it's not really coffee.

The only way I can tell is by the fact that the coffee doesn't always mix completely leaving little dark 'globs' on the top. But I couldn't taste the difference if I had been blindfolded.

then you definately do not delight in coffee or you have a low experience of scent. coffee would not have a flavor as such - basically a scent. instantaneous coffee ranges from the disgustingly much less costly to quite stable (Gold mixture or Cafe Noir) yet i can basically drink floor coffee, solid and finished of aromas.

If you put the milk in first then you won't scorch the beans/grindings. If you put the hot water in first, it'll taste bitter as the water scorches the granules.
