OK, so I'm feeling a bit homesick (LA, where you can go downtown & find everything you want) and missing my dead grandmother. Makes me yearn for pan con pavo! I learned a lot of recipes from her but never how to make my absolute favorite! Does anybody have a good recipe??

Does anyone have an authentic Fattoosh salad dressing recipe? I have been searching for a good one but have yet to find it. Also, if you have any good middle eastern recipes in general I would love it. Especially the garlic dip that you get with the chicken tawook! Thanks! This is one of my favorite types of food. Any recipes welcomed.

If anyone has an authentic recipe for persian chelo kabab beef and the garlic sauce that goes with it, please share.

Before you answer: This is NOT the same as your usual tenderloin kabab on a skewer. It is made from ground beef and tastes entirely different.

Persian kabab is usually eaten with garlic sauce and hot sauce, and wrapped in a pita. It goes well with motabal, ox brain, humus or gafghazi.

I saw many items I was unfamiliar with, such as a bag of what looked like small, brownish, irregularly shaped sugar pebbles. My daughter thinks it was called "Kaita", but that may have been the brand, and it had two words. I also saw a bag of oval shaped white candy covered in sesame seeds. What are these and which foods have you tried that you liked from an Indian market?
