i like to eat quinoa for my health being so high in protien and alcalizing. the problem is it has such a stong taste. i soak it over night and rince it well. i also keep it in the freezer to keep it from going bad. but still its a little strong any suggestions on spices i could add to it or other methods of preping it to soften the bitterness?

I was told by someone I used to work with that England's food isn't too great. Is that true? I'm used to good food, b/c I live in New Orleans. What kind of cuisine can I expect over there?

See the stars on food network using kosher salt all the time, but all I seem to find in stores is sea salt, partically Sam's club, We like to buy in bulk, expensive up front but saves money in the long run.

In Bali, I had these yummy bali peanuts that were a little smaller than the usually american version but more crunchy and had some little holes inside of them. Does anyone know where I can get some in America?

Having spent some time in Thailand / Cambodia and enjoying cooking those cuisines, I'm now getting interested in cooking Chinese food. I buy ingredients from stores like Wing Yip in the UK. There seems to be quite an acceptance that ready-made commercial sauces are fine, but that feels weird to me - I'd never dream of making a Thai Tom Yum soup with a mix from a jar. Do Chinese people use these ready-made, jarred or tinned sauces? I've got a recipe for char siu which has a whole host of ingredients, and then says at the end "or use ready-made char siu sauce and marinate for an hour before roasting". To be honest, I'm not going to bother getting hold of Chinese malt syrup etc, if the ready-made stuff is just as good!

I don't mean the chardonnays and cabernets which stores like Wing Yip promote. I know the long tradition of great, classic Chinese poetry which is heavily involved with wine (respect to Li Po!). But what sort of wine was he drinking? And what do Chinese people drink in the provinces?

I know that Monosodium glutamate is out of fashion for trendy cooks, but does it still have a role in Chinese cooking? For instance, I recently saw a recipe on the BBC food website for char siu which included it. I find my Chinese recipes VERY salty anyway, so is it always OK to omit it?

i always thought that true pasta is made from only semolina flour, but almost every recipe i see has about equal parts of all purpose flour and semolina. what is the benefits of mixing the two? is it for taste or does it just produce a better pasta? anyone have a great pasta dough recipe?

And what exactly is paprika? I've never thought of it but there's a recipe that calls for sweet paprika and I know it comes from Hungary and is also grown locally too but I don't think I've ever even seen hot paprika.

I'm looking for things that a college student can make easily, given the lack of time and the fact that groceries are brought every once in a while from a place with limited Indian things. There are Indian restaurants nearby, but sometimes it just feels better to cook your own food. :p
