hi, in regards to setting a table for a sit-down dinner in a cocktail party theme, im lost for ideas. im having fancy cocktail glasses and cocktail umbrellas, but am not sure what else i can do. im thinking perhaps of theme colours of pink/orange/lime green. is there anything i really do with the rest of the table? should i rim the cocktail glasses in sugar or salt, or leave as is? im serving two cocktails for the meal part of the evening - sex on the beach and margaritas, which will be on the table in jugs. anything special i can do with the ice-cubes? im also wanting to give each guest when they arrive, an item to wear and then keep (eg. every female is given beads to wear for the evening). any ideas what i can use for this? i was wanting to give something for the men and the women, but keep it fairly cheap. thanks for all your help

Here goes a family member was invited to thanksgiving dinner. He has since been charged with a crime and is out on bail. The rest of the dinner guests including my husband are opposed to his presence at the meal. (aside from his charges he is rather rude sometimes) This particular instance made the evening news and local papers. I would prefer to just assume he isn't coming and let it go.

Planning a surprise party at work - what do you think is most popular or what's your favorite? Nothing fancy, just the more or less normal sort of desserts that can be bought or easily prepared. The honored person likes cheesecake - but how popular is that compared to something like chocolate cake or a bowl of ice cream? Is there a favorite flavor for cheesecake - strawberry, plain, pineapple, mocha...? I don't know! We are doing the Family Christmas Eve get together in a smaller house and this is a BIG family (30-40 people could show up) The Dining/Living room is an open area about 12x24 feet. The Kitchen is a very small galley style- no room for a table. How can we arrange food, tables and chairs efficiently?
