I make this for parties all the time & while I don't know what the traditional tray holds I can tell you what I include on mine. I take miniature dill pickles, sweet jerkins, pickled peppers, olives, pickled onions & veggies ( such as baby corn ) I also like to add a couple different types of cheese cubes & crackers to mine as well......

I would think all kinds of pickles would be in a pickle tray and possibly some other pickled veggies.

Pickles, olives, cucumbers,

you can do sweet pickles, sour pickles, i can't think of the name of the tiny pickles...a brown mustard or mustard with REAL mustard seed it in, for dipping...

if you really wanna do it up...do some pate...pate and pickles go wonderful together...maybe even a relish or kraut with the pate and pickles...yummy...

in some higher end grocers they now have a section with "fresh" olives...right around that section you can find pickled foods....

make it a fun party tray...but, i'd definitely consider pate with the pickle tray....

i don't think you can buy pate at the store, but not sure. i've only had it it higher end restaurants...actually some irish pubs might have pate also...

Haven't the foggiest, but if asked myself I would prepare cocktail sticks with gherkins and cheese, pickled onions with pineapple and ham etc.

Having never heard of a pickle tray - traditional or not - I would say use your imagination.

A variety of pickes, olives, and assorted pickled veggies, like onions, etc. Usually in the center of mine ,I fill in with small cubes of cheese, but I have no idea if that is traditional or not, it's what I think looks good only! :) (make sure to include mustard for dipping!)
