When I am in a conversation with a group of people (or even just 1 person) what is a good way to move on to another person. What is good to say to get out of the conversation? Politely..........

By the time you're finished, are you not hungry anymore? This happens all the time...I just fall asleep afterwards.

Im hosting a party for a group of friends at the end of the month. Could be as little as 12 people, could be as many as 30 depending on how many rsvp. We live in a 1000 sq ft house, with an average sized backyard, small patio. We are thinking of removing all clutter, putting heaters and a fire pit outside, keeping an open flow as much as we can and serving food buffet style. Any other tips for hosting a nice party? Its going to be super casual and around Christmas time.

Hi I really want to cook My BoyFriend because I never do and this will be a real surprise to him to eat a really Great meal actually somewhat made by me. So I'm pulling out my best meal and am great at making Vegitarian Tomato Based Spagettie, a Spinach Green Salad with dried Cranberrys and Sweetened Pecans and a vinagarette dressing(complemetry already made by Trader Joe's, just wash the spinach and add the ingredients it's delisiouse) and Red Wine Which he loves. What would be a good desert to follow that. The only thing I can think of is Chocolate Cake but know there has to be something better? That goes with the meal. Please let me know if anyone can come up with a couple suggestions..

Thanks

I am having 6 friends for dinner on Sunday evening. I am serving a substantial entree and main, but would love to have fruit / cheese / olive platters in lieu of sticky, creamy desserts. My husband feels I ought to serve more traditional sweet desserts. What do you think? Please say honestly if you think my idea would be too disappointing .Thank you so much for any advice you can give - much appreciated.

I'm throwing a baby shower for a friend. I have all the games planned, I've sent out the invitations, bought the favors, etc...

Right now I'm just looking for menu ideas I was thinking about maybe some finger sandwiches and fruit salad type things. It will be after lunch but before dinner, so nothing too heavy... any ideas or recipes would be greatly appreciated!

We are having a christmas party for 100+ people and want to set out a dessert table. We would like to stray from cakes and pies and just one or two bite appetizer sized finger food desserts. any ideas?

Where do I start? Ok so we invited my 4 yr old son's friend and his parents over for Thanksgiving and they were delighted to come join us. I asked the mom before hand if she and her family were allergic to anything or can't eat any foods. She said they can't chocolates or drink sodas but everything else they can eat. 2 days, we made a lot of food and cleaned up our place to make it comfortable for the guests. When the guests arrived, I welcomed the parents by hugging them and when I hugged the dad, the dad just stood there and didn't hug me back for some reason. This made me feel weird so I let it go.
I asked if they would like anything to drink or eat and they all ate (only a few foods) but the mom didn't want to eat anything or drink anything at all. I soon found out before I served her turkey that she didn't eat meat and she was a vegetarian. I wondered why she didn't tell me beforehand that she couldn't eat meat, so I could fix her something else besides turkey. Continued.....
