Im hosting a party for a group of friends at the end of the month. Could be as little as 12 people, could be as many as 30 depending on how many rsvp. We live in a 1000 sq ft house, with an average sized backyard, small patio. We are thinking of removing all clutter, putting heaters and a fire pit outside, keeping an open flow as much as we can and serving food buffet style. Any other tips for hosting a nice party? Its going to be super casual and around Christmas time.

YOU WANT SOME ADVICE I'LL GIVE YOU SOME. IT HAPPENED TO ME, AN I DID THE EASY WAY OUT. AS FOLLOWS;
GO TO THE POUND SHOP AND YOU WILL FIND THE MOST AMAZING PLATTER PLATES, THEY HAVE THEM IN SILVER, GOLD AND RED, STICK TO ONE COLOUR THOUGH. THEN FIND MATCHING SERVIETTES WITH THE PLATTERS.
THEN MAKE FINGER SNACKS. WHAT I DID, AND EVERYBODY ENJOYED IT, ESPECIALLY WITH DRINKS, MOST PEOPLE WALK AROUND CHATTING AND THIS WAY NO DIRTY KNIVES FORKS AND PLATES, YET EVERYBODY TUMMY WILL BE FULL.
TESCOS ONCE AGAIN, BUY THEIR READY ROASTED CHICKENS, SAUSAGE ROLLS, ORDER SOME VOLIVENTS, DIFFERENT CHEESE, BLACK AND GREEN OLIVES, COLD MEATS, TINNED ASPARAGUS, EGGS. DIFFERENT DIPS SAVOURY BISCUITS, CHIPS.
TAKE LETTUCE AND SHREDDED IT, SPRINKLE THIS ALL OVER YOUR 12PLATTERS OR HOWEVER MANY. CUT UP CHICKEN PIECES, ARRANGE ALL OVER, SAUSAGE ROLLS, BOIL EGGS, AND MAKE DIFFERENT FILLING FOR THE STUFFED EGGS AND ALSO FOR THE VOLIVENTS, TAKE COLD MEATS ROLL ROUND ASPARAGUS, AND ARRANGE ALL OF THE THINGS MIXING THEM ONTO YOUR PLATTERS. THEN DO SAVOURY BISCUITS AND CHIPS WITH DIPS. THEN FOR DESSERTS BUY SOME FRUIT CAKE AND SMALL APPLE PIE AND ARRANGE ON SEPARATE PLATTERS, WITH FRUIT S AND BERRIES.
MOST OF THIS CAN BE DONE THE DAY B4 AND COVERED WITH CLING WRAP AND PUT INTO FRIDGE.
AND THEN I MADE A HUGE BIG BARREL OF NICE STRONG PUNCH.
HOPE THIS WAS SOME GOOD ADVICE
GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO.

No matter how small your living space, you can still have a party! Look at the positive side: having a smaller area will make the Christmas party have a more warm, inviting vibe.

Here are some tips for hosting a Christmas party at your house:
* Have lots of places to sit. Guests will not want to be standing the entire time during your party, so be sure to bring in plenty of chairs to the main party area (including outside) without crowding it too much.
* Make it easy to get snacks. You should always include a table of tasty snacks to keep guests satisfied. Designate one area, such as an island, counter, or table, to place all the snacks.
* Come up with some entertaining and fresh party games. As long as the weather is nice, you may want to play the party games outside and set up a projector outside to ensure maximum space.

I recommend checking out this article for some cool ideas on party games and other aspects of your holiday party--it's worth the read: https://valoso.com/blog/christmas-party-...

Most importantly, do not stress too much over your party. Planning and preparing are certainly important, but Christmas parties are supposed to be a fun time of togetherness, not an overwhelming or expensive chore.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

Have an open house rather than a party. This way, guests can have a range of times to arrive and leave and the bulk of them won't be hovering around for the entire gig. Keep your food simple and filling. Instead of appetizers and such, how about a pot of soup or chili or two? Have sliced meats and artisan rolls for guests to make sandwiches. Have an alcoholic and non-alcoholic punch as well as eggnog, sodas and plenty of water. Have a dessert "bar" or rent a chocolate fountain instead of having tons of cookies and such. Lots of little white lights, candles, greenery, and carols should make for a nice evening.

Good luck and try this recipe for dessert or treats...they are oreo truffles! very good!

Take one package regular oreos (not double stuff or anything like that)
One package regular cream cheese
One package milk chocolate chips
One package while chololate chips ( or just two packages of milk/dark chocloate if you dont want white)

In a food process, grind oreos to a powder or fine pieces. mix oreo powder with softened cream cheese until blended well. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet or container. Refridgerate for a few hours or overnight. They just need to be hard enough they dont stick to your hands

In a double boiler, melt which every chocolate you prefer and with a toothpick to help, dip oreo balls into chocolate and place on rack/sheet to dry. You can drizzle the top or decorate with the opposite color of chocolate. Refridgerate until they are set and enjoy!!! I find that this is more of a 2 day process but well worth it!! One package makes several of these...about 3 cookie sheets!

Most of the suggestions are very good. How about staggering the times for your guests to arrive? Doing this should assure there will be space at the tables for those who want to eat.

You could also keep guests away from those they don't particularly get along with.

What about asking folks to bring their favorite dishes? This takes some of the cost and time to prepare away from you.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

All good ideas. Also, have several large plastic storage bins outside with ice in them for beer and wine, soda and water. That way the beverages won't take up the whole fridge.

Rather than a buffet, consider investing a little in servers who can pass hors d'oeuvres.

Clear excess furniture and clutter, and rent some high-boy tables. They are small, but allow space for guests to gather and chat without needing a lot of extra sit-down space.
