This is different. Whenever I hosted a party - which was quite often - my guests always gravitated to the kitchen, where I was busy preparing and putting the finishing touches for the meal and refreshments.

AND THE BEST PART: I always got help and they knew when to move into the other rooms of our home.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

With drink in hand, or appetizer tray to pass around, thank your guest(s) for coming and tell them you hope they'll enjoy the evening, then move on. Or you can boldly say "As the hostess with the mostess, I have to mingle!".

Say something like "I am so glad you made it, it is great to see you!" If you know them well enough put your hand on their arm when you say it.
