Starter for your main meal or something to start the day?
We like to start the day with a nice bacon sarnie and then we usually have a nice prawn cocktail as a starter.

The best starter for Christmas Day will depend upon your age and circumstances:

Children in the house? At the very least, checking out the contents of Christmas stockings.

Loved ones far away?
A phone call or two to keep in touch.

Beloved is beside you in bed?
A cuddle and hug with the one you love.,

Visiting with friends today?
A mad rush to prepare to visit with loved ones and friends; either at their home or yours.

And once you do Any of the above:

Break your night time fast with a light snack--
Milk/coffee/hot chocolate and Cookies/pound cake/favorite pie--

Take the time to Read the Christmas story as you play soft background Christmas music/carols.

Remembering and focusing on the "Greatest Gift of All" will start your Christmas Day out right.!

Something light and fishy to balance the meat.
How about one of those frozen prawn rings with a dip - people just help themselves.
Or, if you like it, Gravalax (salmon with a mustard sauce Scandinavian style) - all ready in packets
Smoked salmon? Make the salmon into rolls (around cream cheese if you like). Serve with little triangles of thin, buttered brown bread and salad garnish; it will sit quietly covered in the fridge all morning while you get on with the big part of the meal.

do you mean for breakfast? We always have crepes - make the crepe shells up to a month ahead and freeze. Thaw over night.. on Christmas morning - fill each crepe with cream cheese whipped with berries (strawberries or blueberries). Fold and top with whipped cream and whole berries, dust with icing sugar.. this takes only a few minutes of prep in the morning, looks great and makes a nice treat.

Unless I misunderstood your question you wanted like a breakfast for Christmas morning? I always find that fresh baked rolls straight from oven with butter are ideal, but if someone wants to do some bacon to go with them too well so be it.
Merry Christmas and enjoy your breakfast

For Breakfast my husband gives me breakfast in bed as a treat for cooking all year round for him. I'ts the same every year, but I don't complain as I love it. Its scrambled egg with smoked salmon, a coffee, and a slice of toast.

Then this year for starters with our xmas lunch we will be having a prawn ring from iceland with a dip, as my daughter is coming home from Australia and she chose what she would like for her starter.

if you are having a traditional christmas dinner, try a warm salmon fillet with a hollandaise sauce. Melon is good but my favourite is sweet potato and cumin soup, follow it with a lemon sorbet to cleanse the pallet

Last year home cured Gravlax sliced at the table, year before chicken liver mousse. Both impressive but very easy to make

make cookies, o rif you want a full breakfast,
do bisquick pancakes, or waffles or biscuits, investing in a waffle maker is a smart idea, use bisquick mix its the best!! and you can have cookies, or muffins, and something sweet like chocolate chip pancakes ir something, or bluebery muffins, and put cool icing like chriswtmassy icing on the cookies!
