Hello, all:

I apologize if this question has been asked before, but a search turned up no similar questions.

Up here in Canada, Coke Classic disappeared from our shelves quite suddenly a few months ago, replaced with a product labelled as just plain "Coca Cola". It tastes different, and we don't like it very much.

I haven't been able to find anything on the Internet about this change, or why it happened so suddenly and without any publicity or fanfare. If anyone can shed some light on this mystery, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to respond.

Can anyone tell me if I can throw bratwurst and sauerkraut in a crock pot and 4 hours later it be done? My daughter has an international feast tomorrow at school. I had to come up with something from Germany. I just bought 3 lbs brats and a bag of sauerkraut. I am hoping I can throw it in the crock pot before I leave for work, come home at noon and drop it off at her school. Can this be done or do I have to boil or brown them first?
Please don't suggest different German recipes because it's late and the brats, sauerkraut and applesauce are all I bought for this dish.
Thank you so much for helping a frantic mom whom thought I could just throw them together and be done!

I cooked some chicken on it last night. I usually use non stick foil to avoid having to clean up much afterwards, but I ran out and needed some dinner. Anyway, the chicken left this white residue on the grills that look like powder like stains and I have tried washing them in the dishwasher and rubbing them with a hot wet rag and soap, but it won't come off. Any suggestions??

I need my ham to be done by 12:00 on Christmas day for lunch. I have a roaster oven that I want to cook it in. What temp should I set it on to cook the ham so it will done by 12:00? I really don't want to have to be in the kitchen with it early in the morning because the kids will wake up and I don't want to miss the presents. Oh, my ham was given to my husband at work and is not precooked at all.

I don't know how to cook. I am extremely lazy in the kitchen and want to learn to make good, tasty meals that require a MINIMUM of preparation* and utilize as many shortcuts as possible (e.g. frozen veggies, pre-made stir fry sauces, etc.).

I love vegetables and chicken but don't eat red meat. I prefer ethnic flavors such as thai, indian, asian etc. I'm thinking learning some stirfry techniques might be a good place to start, but I'm open to other ideas.

What are the best cookbooks for me to try? In addition to a lack of cooking technique, I also know very little about basics such as stocking my kitchen. Thanks!!

*Ideally 10 minutes or less.

I am making onion salad for Christmas, and i have made it once before, but I cannot find my recipe. I know it calls for 1 purple onion and 3 white onions, but I cant remember what the brine consists of. I know it was water and vinegar, but I am not sure of how much and if that was it. And I know the next day you mix mayo and celery seed in it, but Im not sure how much. If anyone knows the recipe it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I live in the states and have heard all the rage about Guinness and how good it is. The other day I picked up a sixer at the grocery store and tried that night at home. It tasted like a dark sweet beer that had been left out all night. It was flat, is this how it is supposed to taste? I have heard that it is better on tap than in a bottle.

I am brewing my first Pilsner and am wondering whether or not to add more yeast. It has been fementing at about 50º for 2 weeks and I took it out to room temp for a few days. I did not notice any bubbling at all. Do I need to add more yeast before I put it back to colder temps? Gravity reading has read the same for 2 days - near 1.008. It also isn't as clear as I expected. I am researching also just to figure it out ASAP. But as a rookie any other ideas are more than welcome.
